Yusmeiro Petit allowed four earned runs over six innings Saturday as the Giants dropped the second half of a doubleheader against the Rockies.

Petit hadn't gone more than three innings in any appearance this season as the Giants' most-trusted long reliever, so that he was able to make it through six (on just 81 pitches) was a big help to the Giants' pitching staff as a whole. But the Colorado offense got to him for two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to split the doubleheader. Petit will head back to the bullpen now.

Anthony Rizzo finished 2-for-5 with a home run and six RBI in the Cubs' 9-6 defeat of the Diamondbacks on Saturday night in Arizona.

Rizzo slugged a go-ahead three-run bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning off Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa and then gave the Cubs the lead for good with a three-run homer off Enrique Burgos in the top of the ninth. The six RBI tied his career-high. Rizzo is batting .322/.444/.586 with nine home runs, 29 RBI, and 27 runs scored in 42 games this season. He also has nine stolen bases as a cherry on top for fantasy owners.

Rubby De La Rosa allowed four earned runs over six innings Saturday in the Diamondbacks' loss to the Cubs.

De La Rosa appeared headed for another good outing before the top of the fifth inning, when he hit Kris Bryant with the bases loaded and then Anthony Rizzo followed with a bases-clearing three-run double. De La Rosa yielded just four hits in all and struck out eight. The 26-year-old right-hander has emerged as a solid mixed-league starter and has a favorable matchup next week in Milwaukee.

Mike Bolsinger delivered eight shutout innings Saturday in the Dodgers' 2-0 win over the Padres.

Bolsinger was absolutely terrific, yielding only one hit while striking out eight against a plenty-good Padres lineup. He did not walk a batter. The 27-year-old has posted tremendous numbers this season between Triple-A Oklahoma City and Los Angeles, and he's worth a shot in mixed fantasy leagues while the fire is lit. Some regression is probably coming. A road date with the Cardinals is next.

Ian Kennedy allowed two earned runs over six innings Saturday in a loss to the Dodgers.

Joc Pederson slugged a solo shot off Kennedy in the bottom of the first and then Justin Turner smacked an RBI double in the bottom of the sixth. Kennedy was otherwise sharp, yielding only six total hits and zero walks while striking out six Los Angeles hitters. The 30-year-old will carry a 2-4 record, 6.11 ERA, and 1.39 WHIP into his next start at home against the Pirates. He's been very inconsistent this season, but better results should be coming.

Joc Pederson slugged his 12th home run of the season Saturday in the Dodgers' defeat of the Padres.

It was a first-inning solo shot off Padres starter Ian Kennedy. Pederson, 23, boasts a .943 OPS through 42 games this season and he's on pace for 46 homers and 100 runs scored. Just give him the NL Rookie of the Year Award.

Martin Prado's RBI single with two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the 13th inning made 1-0 winners out of the Marlins in Saturday's contest against the Orioles.

Had Prado not singled, it's possible that this game simply would have sunk into a tear in the fabric of space-time, never to end. Prado made sure the universe remained intact. After Giancarlo Stanton drew an intentional walk to load the bases, Prado stepped up against T.J. McFarland and singled to end the game before any position players had to pitch. The hit extended Prado's hitting streak to six games and he's now slashing .273/.310/.341.

Chris Davis went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts in Saturday's 13-inning loss to the Marlins.

Giving six consecutive at-bats to Chris Davis is just asking for multiple strikeouts. Unfortunately for the Orioles, Davis didn't counteract the four strikeouts with any offensive pyrotechnics. The hit-less game dropped his season batting line to .210/.290/.427. He does have eight home runs and 21 driven in, but he doesn't offer much beyond the power.
