Yu Darvish allowed just one run over six innings but took the loss as the A's beat the Rangers on Tuesday.

Darvish allowed only a solo home run to Yoenis Cespedes on the night, but he was outdueled by Dan Straily. Even with the loss, Darvish is 7-2 with a 2.84 ERA through 10 starts. He'll hope for a better fate Monday against the Diamondbacks.

Travis Snider launched a pinch-hit grand slam in Tuesday's win over the Cubs.

After getting Gaby Sanchez to fly out to shallow left with one out, Shawn Camp served up a fat pitch to Snider, who deposited it just over the right-center field wall. Snider has just two longballs this season, but they've both come over the last week.

Darwin Barney went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in Tuesday's loss to the Pirates.

All four hits were singles, but Barney will certainly take it. Barney is still hitting only .223 for the season after a painfully slow start, but he's heating up of late with a .476 average over his last six games.

Grant Balfour pitched a scoreless ninth inning to preserve the A's win over the Rangers on Tuesday.

Balfour struck out a batter and now owns a 1.47 ERA through 18 1/3 innings this year. He has yet to blow a save in nine chances.

Ryan Howard went 3-for-5 with three RBI in the Phillies' 7-3 win over the Marlins on Tuesday.

Howard did it without the use of the longball, using three singles to plate the runs. The three RBI raised his count to 25 on the year, and he's got a .256/.292/.436 line through 42 games. More importantly, he seems to be healthy after playing just 71 games last season.

An X-ray on Jed Lowrie's right foot came back clean.

Lowrie was injury Tuesday when he was hit by a Yu Darvish pitch. He won't play Wednesday but should be back in the lineup Friday following Thursday's off day.

Miguel Gonzalez made up for lost time in his return from the disabled list Tuesday, holding the Yankees to two runs over seven frames in a 3-2 win.

Gonzalez didn't register the win, as the Orioles needed an extra inning to pull out the victory. It was a terrific effort nonetheless, as he gave up just five hits, didn't walk anyone and struck out five. Gonzalez continues to torment the Bombers during his brief career, as he now holds a 2.41 ERA against them in five starts (including the postseason). He'll face the Blue Jays Sunday.

Ben Revere went 3-for-5 with a double as the Phillies beat the Marlins on Tuesday.

Revere scored two runs in the game while raising his average to .260. He was removed from the leadoff spot after his early struggles, rendering him relatively useless for fantasy purposes. He's begun to hit more in May and manager Charlie Manuel rewarded him by hitting him second Tuesday. He may finally be starting to show why the Phillies traded for his this past offseason.
