Eagles released ILB Najee Goode, WR Rasheed Bailey, OL Brett Boyko, OL Malcolm Bunche, CB Randall Evans, TE Andrew Gleichert, WR Jeff Maehl, WR Freddie Martino, DE Brian Mihalik, WR Quron Pratt, S Chris Prosinski, DT Travis Raciti, LB Deontae Sinner, P Kip Smith, TE Eric Tomlinson, OL Julian Vandervelde and LB Diaheem Watkins.
The Eagles were trying to move Goode but predictably failed to find any takers. Goode should find a special teams role somewhere. The Eagles now have 52 players on their active roster.
Bengals waived/released RB James Wilder Jr., CB Brandon Ghee, S Keo Shiloh, WR Michael Bennett, OT Dan France, OT Tanner Hawkinson, CB Troy Hill, OG Trey Hopkins, WR Jake Kumerow, TE Matt Lengel, OT Matthew O'Donnell, K Tom Obarski, S Floyd Raven, LB Trevor Roach, C Jake Smith, RB Terrell Watson, QB Keith Wenning and DT DeShawn Williams.
Wilder had a solid preseason, but couldn't crack the Bengals' deep running back corps. He's likely headed to the practice squad.
Broncos released RB Kapri Bibbs.
Bibbs was competing for Denver's last spot at running back but lost out to Montee Ball. He totaled 27 yards on six carries this preseason. Bibbs will likely be added to the practice squad if he clears waivers.
Bengals placed WLB Vontaze Burfict (knee) on the reserve/PUP list.
The Bengals had been hoping Burfict would avoid the PUP. Now he's not eligible to play before Week 8. Sub-replacement level veteran A.J. Hawk is holding down the fort in Burfict's absence.
Seahawks released CB Will Blackmon.
Blackmon was the starting slot corner in the third preseason game and was expected to serve in that role all season. Blackmon struggled in a similar scheme in Jacksonville last season, however, and may not have as much upside as Marcus Burley. Entering his age-31 season, Blackmon may be out of chances.
Patriots waived RB Jonas Gray.
It's possible Gray is being waived/injured, as he missed the preseason finale with an undisclosed injury. Either way, it brings (a little) clarity to the Pats' jumbled backfield. Brandon Bolden and James White will mind the store during LeGarrette Blount's one-game suspension, while Blount will be the No. 1 upon his Week 2 return. Gray had a nice preseason, rolling up 107 yards on 19 carries (5.6 YPC), and averaged 4.6 yards on 89 totes a year ago. It's quite possible he'll be claimed on waivers.
NFL Network's Rand Getlin reported the Eagles are interested in free agent QB Christian Ponder.
This is likely an agent-driven report. The Eagles have one of the best backups in the league in Mark Sanchez, and Ponder could not beat out former UDFA Matt McGloin in Oakland. Ponder will likely land somewhere, but it would be surprising if it were Philadelphia.
Bengals placed OLB Marquis Flowers on injured reserve with a shoulder injury, ending his season.
A 2014 undrafted free agent, Flowers ended up appearing in all 16 games as a rookie, making one start. He'll be back to compete for one of the Bengals' final roster spots in 2016.
