Anthony DeSclafani got a no-decision after yielding two runs in 5 2/3 innings, but the Reds pulled out a late victory on Monday against the Nationals.

DeSclafani allowed five hits and walked four while striking out six. Despite allowing only two runs, it registers among his poorer outings on the season. He owns a 3.65 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, and a 74/41 K/BB ratio over 101 innings. DeSclafani will take on the Marlins in a road start next.

Denard Span left Monday's game against the Reds with back spasms.

Span is probably looking forward to the All-Star break in order to have some rest, as he's dealt with the back issue off and on for a month now. Consider him day-to-day.
Jul 6 - 10:30 PM

Doug Fister limited the Reds to two runs (one earned) over six innings, but took a no-decision as the Nationals ended up losing on Monday.

Fister allowed his first run on an RBI double to the opposing pitcher. It may as well have been an earned run as it was set up by Fister's throwing error. His second run scored on a Eugenio Suarez RBI single in the sixth inning. Overall, Fister gave up eight hits and a walk while striking out two. He'll bring a 4.08 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 31/14 K/BB ratio over 64 innings into a start in Baltimore against the Orioles.

Danny Espinosa homered in a 2-for-4 effort Monday as the Nationals lost to the Reds.

Espinosa knotted the game up at two apiece with a solo shot to right-center in the sixth inning against Anthony DeSclafani. The homer marks Espinosa's first extra-base hit of July. He's hitting .262/.343/.443 with nine home runs and 25 RBI on the year.

An X-ray on Mark Buehrle's ankle came back negative.

Buehrle was hit in the ankle by a comebacker in Monday's loss to the White Sox. He gutted it out for an eight-inning complete game, but it swelled up on him later. He'll surely be sore for a couple days but should be fine for his start this weekend versus the Royals.
Jul 6 - 10:26 PM

Eugenio Suarez hit a solo home run in the eighth inning to break a tie and ultimately send the Reds to a win over the Nationals on Monday.

Suarez, in a 3-for-4 effort, took reliever Casey Janssen out to left field to break a 2-2 tie in the top of the eighth inning. He has done a commendable job filling in for Zack Cozart at shortstop, batting .329/.372/.493 with three home runs, 13 RBI, and three stolen bases since June 11.
Jul 6 - 10:23 PM

Josh Donaldson ripped his 20th home run of the season, but the Blue Jays suffered a 4-2 loss to the White Sox on Monday.

Donaldson finished 2-for-3 on the night. He drilled a solo home run to left field off of Chris Sale in the sixth inning to break a 1-1 tie. The Blue Jays' slugger was the leading vote-getter in All-Star balloting, setting a new record for votes in fact. It has a lot to do with his .300/.357/.537 batting line with 20 home runs and 57 RBI.
Jul 6 - 10:21 PM

Chris Colabello went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in a losing effort against the White Sox on Monday.

Colabello broke a scoreless tie in the third inning with a solo home run to left-center off of Chris Sale. He has homered in back-to-back games and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down, batting .335/.373/.518 with eight home runs and 32 RBI.
