Randal Grichuk (knee) went 0-for-2 with two walks and two strikeouts in his first rehab game Tuesday with High-A Dunedin.

Gricuk has been out since late April with a sprained PCL in his right knee and figures to play several more minor league rehab games. The 26-year-old outfielder was batting just .106/.208/.227 over his first 25 games this season with Toronto and might not have a starting job when he returns.

Jake Faria was lifted from his start Tuesday night against the Red Sox due to an apparent injury.

Faria worked a clean first two innings, but he allowed a walk, a single, and a three-run homer to Mookie Betts in the top of the third and exited the game with a trainer in the middle of an at-bat against Hanley Ramirez. There should be a status update soon from Tropicana Field.

Daniel Gossett will be called up to start for the Athletics on Wednesday against the Mariners.

Gossett has allowed nine earned runs in 7 1/3 innings (two starts) this season at the MLB level. There are better fantasy streaming options on the waiver wire.

An MRI taken Tuesday on Andrew Triggs' right arm showed no structural damage.

Triggs has a triceps strain, but this is relatively good news. He was placed on the disabled list May 18 after experiencing nerve irritation in his throwing arm and figures to miss around 3-4 weeks. The 29-year-old right-hander holds a 5.23 ERA in nine starts this season with Oakland.

Alex Wilson (foot) threw a bullpen session on Tuesday.

Wilson tossed around 40-45 pitches and reported feeling good. He could embark on a minor league rehab assignment before the end of this week. The 31-year-old setup man landed on the disabled list May 7 with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot.

Miguel Cabrera (hamstring, hips, back) launched several home runs during a batting practice session on Tuesday.

"I told him, ‘That’s what I remember,’" manager Ron Gardenhire said after watching the workout. "I’ve seen him hit a lot of those out there and I’d be saying, ‘Don’t let Miggy beat us.’ That’s a good sign that he’s really staying through the ball." Cabrera still has to pass a number of running and agility tests, but he's finally making some progress. The veteran slugger has been out since May 4 with hamstring, hip, and back issues.

Twins acquired 1B Chris Carter from the Angels; assigned him to Triple-A Rochester.

Carter was off to a terrific start this season with the Angels' Triple-A affiliate, boasting a .933 OPS with 13 home runs and 43 RBI in 38 games. He could soon join the Twins' active roster if Joe Mauer's concussion symptoms linger. It's unclear what the Angels got in return for the 31-year-old slugger -- probably cash considerations.

Khris Davis (groin) remains out of the Athletics' starting lineup on Tuesday night.

But it's notable that he has not yet been placed on the 10-day disabled list. Davis suffered a right groin strain in Sunday's series finale against the Blue Jays. Matt Joyce is starting at DH and batting leadoff for Oakland on Tuesday against Mariners right-hander Mike Leake.
