Mike Moustakas - 3B - Royals

Royals manager Ned Yost said Saturday that he's not going to stop giving Mike Moustakas playing time despite his early-season struggles.

"The kid is going to be fine," Yost said. "Yes, he’s fighting it right now. They’re all fighting it." It's encouraging to hear from the manager, considering Moustakas was hitting .189/.261/.331 heading into Saturday's action. There were high hopes for the 24-year old third baseman heading into the 2013 season, and there's still plenty of time for him to turn it around and make a positive impact this year.

Ryan Flaherty - 2B - Orioles

Orioles optioned INF Ryan Flaherty to Triple-A Norfolk.

A corresponding move will come on Sunday. Flaherty was hitting .133/.228/.233 in 90 at-bats this year.

Jose Molina - C - Rays

Jose Molina said he was "OK" after Saturday's game after exiting due to left hamstring tightness.

It sounds like Molina could be in the lineup Sunday. Either way, he's just day-to-day and nothing more at this point.

Mark Trumbo - 1B - Angels

Mark Trumbo slugged his 10th home run of the season Saturday in the Angels' 12-9 win over the White Sox.

Trumbo's solo shot in the bottom of the fourth inning completely threw off White Sox starter Hector Santiago, who had been on a roll. Trumbo then added a run-scoring double in the fifth against White Sox reliever Nate Jones. Trumbo is currently on pace for 38 homers and 109 RBI, and he's talented enough to come at least somewhat close to those totals.

Hector Santiago - R - White Sox

Hector Santiago lasted only 3 1/3 innings Saturday as the White Sox fell to the Angels.

Santiago cruised through the first three innings but simply lost it in the fourth after yielding a solo home run to Mark Trumbo to lead off the frame. His ERA jumped from 2.23 to 2.78 and his WHIP moved from 1.08 to 1.21. The regression should have been expected. Santiago will try to bounce back next week in an easy outing against the Marlins.

Matt Joyce - OF - Rays

Matt Joyce finished 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBI in Saturday's 10-6 victory over the Orioles.

Joyce cranked a two-run homer in the top of the third inning and then drove in another two runs with a double as the Rays staged an impressive comeback in the top of the ninth. The 28-year-old remains a fringe outfielder in standard mixed fantasy leagues.

Jake Odorizzi - S - Rays

The Rays have officially announced that Jake Odorizzi will be Monday's starter against the Blue Jays.

The move won't be made official until Sunday, but the Rays have confirmed what was suspected since David Price (triceps) went on the disabled list. The Blue Jays are not a very pitcher-friendly opponent, but Odorizzi is talented enough to warrant a roster spot in deeper mixed leagues. The 23-year-old right-hander has a 3.83 ERA and 47/15 K/BB ratio in 44 2/3 innings this season at Triple-A Durham.

Jim Johnson - R - Orioles

Jim Johnson blew his second consecutive save in epic fashion Saturday as the Orioles fell to the Rays.

Johnson entered with the O's leading 6-4 and promptly surrendered five earned runs on three hits and two walks. He was among the best closers in baseball last season and started off strong this year, but his past two outings have been very troubling. The Orioles may want to give him a few days of mental rest.
