Doug Fister (forearm) said Sunday that he is feeling better and hopes to begin throwing soon.

Fister admitted that it's a slow process, noting, "The process of getting complete game ready is going to be a little bit, but I'm making strides every day." While it's a positive development, there is still no clear timetable for his return. Tanner Roark will occupy his spot in the rotation in the meantime.

Bobby Parnell (elbow) worked a scoreless inning in his first minor league rehab appearance with Double-A Binghampton on Sunday.

He allowed just a one-run double, but was able to strand the runner at third without incident. Parnell was reportedly hitting as high as 94 mph on the radar gun and struck out one in the ballgame. It's unclear how many appearances he will require before becoming an option for the Mets bullpen.

Nolan Arenado went 4-for-5 and finished a double shy of the cycle as the Rockies thrashed the Giants 11-2 in Colorado on Sunday.

His three-run blast off Jean Machi capped off an eight-run uprising in the fourth inning that gave the Rockies an early 9-0 lead. Arenado scored three runs and plated four in the impressive performance. He's now hitting .275/.321/.516 with eight homers and 25 RBI on the season.

Chad Bettis was outstanding in Sunday's victory over the Giants, allowing just two runs on six hits over his 8 1/3 innings.

Bettis racked up seven strikeouts on the afternoon while walking two. The right-hander carried a shutout into the ninth inning before finally allowing a pair of runs to score. He'll carry a 4.19 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 15/6 K/BB ratio into Saturday's start against the Phillies in Philadelphia.

Brandon Belt went 1-for-4 with an RBI double in a losing effort against the Rockies on Sunday.

The Giants had been shut out heading into the ninth inning, where they finally broke through against Chad Bettis to score a pair of runs. Belt has been a monster on the road in recent weeks and is now slashing .311/.384/.511 with 19 RBI on the season.
May 24 - 9:25 PM

Tim Hudson was obliterated in a loss to the Rockies at Coors Field on Sunday, surrendering eight runs on six hits over 3 2/3 innings.

The veteran right-hander also issued a pair of walks while striking out just one. All of the damage except for one run came in the fourth inning, where the Rockies ambushed Hudson to score seven runs, the last two which rode home on a three-run blast by Nolan Arenado after Hudson had departed. Now 2-4 on the season, he'll look to improve upon an unsightly 5.04 ERA and 1.37 WHIP when he takes on the Braves at home on Friday.
May 24 - 9:23 PM

Nationals released 1B/OF Kila Ka'aihue.

The 31-year-old slugger has been playing for Triple-A Syracuse where he slashed just .193/.314/.328 with four homers and 13 RBI in 39 games. It's unclear if he'll look to continue his career elsewhere or decide to hang up his cleats.
May 24 - 7:54 PM

Yasmani Grandal (concussion) will serve as the designated hitter on his upcoming rehab stint with Triple-A Oklahoma City.

It's a good sign that he'll be ready to come off the 7-day concussion disabled list as soon as he's eligible to do so, as his timing shouldn't be off. Expect Grandal to rejoin the Dodgers by the end of next week.
