Saturday afternoon's contest between the Cardinals and Reds has been postponed due to inclement weather.
No makeup date has been announced. It's currently hailing in St. Louis and harsh weather was expected throughout the afternoon, so they made a wise choice cancelling this one early. Look for Saturday's scheduled starters, Mike Leake and Bronson Arroyo, to be pushed back until Sunday.
Jose Abreu (hip/groin) has returned to the White Sox starting lineup for Saturday afternoon's matchup against the Tigers.
Abreu is back in his customary cleanup spot in the lineup after missing Friday's game with a right hip flexor/groin issue. The 30-year-old slugger is hitting .253/.309/.350 with no homers and eight RBI through 81 plate appearances on the season.
Aaron Sanchez will return from the disabled list to start for the Blue Jays on Sunday against the Rays.
The right-hander made it through Friday's mound session without any issue and has been cleared to return. He has been sidelined since undergoing minor surgery on April 18 to remove part of the nail from his right middle finger. He'll be on a pitch limit in his first start back, so fantasy owners may want to wait and see a start before inserting him back into lineups.
Devin Mesoraco is not in the Reds' starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Cardinals.
Mesoraco started his first game of the year on Friday, going 1-for-3 at the plate plus a walk. He's going to be eased back into full-time action, so expect plenty of days off early on, especially with a day game after a night game. Tucker Barnhart is behind the plate and batting eighth for the Reds on Saturday.
JaCoby Jones (lip) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo on Saturday.
He's expected to need three or four games there before he's ready to rejoin the Tigers. The rookie outfielder is hitting just .150/.244/.300 with a homer, four RBI and a 19/4 K/BB ratio in 40 at-bats this season.
Mariners recalled OF Boog Powell from Triple-A Tacoma.
With Mitch Haniger on the disabled list and Nelson Cruz nursing a minor injury, Powell will provide depth in the outfield for a couple of days. The 24-year-old was hitting .261/.424/.326 with no homers, four RBI and five stolen bases in 14 games at Triple-A Tacoma.
Mariners placed RHP Evan Scribner on the 10-day disabled list with a flexor bundle strain in his right elbow.
The 31-year-old hurler has been a disaster in his eight appearances with the Mariners this season, compiling an 11.05 ERA, 1.77 WHIP and 6/0 K/BB ratio in 7 1/3 innings. It's unclear at the moment just how long he'll be sidelined.
Michael Taylor is starting in center field and batting second for the Nationals on Saturday.
Adam Eaton hit the disabled list on Saturday with a knee strain and it'll be Taylor who gets the first chance to fill that void in the lineup. While he has never hit for a high average, he owns an interesting blend of power and speed and is worth a look in most deeper mixed leagues if he's going to see the bulk of the playing time.
