Hisashi Iwakuma's MRI revealed a Grade 1 lat strain and he will miss 2-to-4 weeks.

Iwakuma didn't look right Tuesday against the Astros and was placed on the DL three days later. Now we know why his early season performance hasn't been up to snuff. Roenis Elias will be called up to take Iwakuma's place in the starting rotation.

Adam Wainwright was lifted from Saturday's game against the Brewers with an apparent left foot injury.

Wainwright pulled up lame after his first step out of the batter's box following a fifth-inning pop-out and could barely make his way off the field. It looked like an Achilles injury, which would sideline the St. Louis ace for a long time. There should be an update from the Cardinals at some point Saturday night. Wainwright had tossed four scoreless innings against Milwaukee, lowering his season ERA to 1.44.

David Wright (hamstring) has advanced to hitting off a tee and throwing.

The next step is for him to test out his legs. A strained hamstring sent Wright to the DL on April 15. His three-week recovery timetable is still in play. Though Wright's fantasy value fell off a cliff last year (.269, 8 HR, 63 RBI in 535 at-bats), he was hitting a respectable .333 before getting hurt.

Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer Saturday in the Astros' 9-3 rout of the A's.

Altuve hit his three-run shot off A's starter Kendall Graveman in the top of the second inning. He also singled in the top of the first but was caught stealing second base. The diminutive 24-year-old is batting .315/.367/.425 with two home runs and five steals in 17 games this season for the Astros, who are off to a 10-7 start.
Apr 25 - 7:30 PM

Scott Feldman limited the A's to three runs over 6 2/3 innings Saturday to earn his second win.

Feldman was flirting with a shutout until the bottom of the seventh, when the Oakland offense generated all three of its runs in the 9-3 loss. Feldman allowed only five total hits and struck out six. He'll carry a 2-2 record, 4.81 ERA, and 1.19 WHIP into his next start at home against the Mariners.
Apr 25 - 7:26 PM

Kendall Graveman was hammered for six earned runs in 4 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Astros.

Graveman gave up nine hits and struck out only one in another ugly start. He tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings against this same Astros team on April 14, but the 24-year-old right-hander even had some issues in that outing. Graveman now has an 8.27 ERA and 2.02 WHIP in 16 1/3 frames this season. It may be time for the A's to install Jesse Chavez as their fifth starter.
Apr 25 - 7:21 PM

Matt Harvey held the Yankees to two runs over 8 2/3 innings Saturday in the Mets' 8-2 victory.

Harvey nearly notched his second career complete game, but Mets manager Terry Collins gave him the hook after he walked Brian McCann with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. Probably the right move. Harvey struck out seven and yielded just five hits, moving to 4-0 with a 3.04 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and 31/3 K/BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings. He gets the Nationals at home next.
Apr 25 - 7:11 PM

Jacoby Ellsbury left Saturday's game with hip tightness.

He went 0-for-3 before exiting in the eighth inning. The Yankees are hopeful Ellsbury won't miss any time, but if he does sit out Sunday, expect Chris Young to fill in at center field.
