Giovani Bernard had five touches for 15 yards in the Bengals' third preseason game.
Bernard rotated with the first team, playing only in passing situations. He lost all goal-line work to Jeremy Hill, and doesn't have a consistent role on third downs due to blocking limitations. Bernard has just 10 carries for 19 yards through three preseason games.
Jameis Winston completed just 6-of-15 passes for 90 yards and one interception in the Bucs' third preseason game Saturday night.
It was another ugly night for Winston after he looked impressive in the Bucs' second preseason game last Monday evening. We're not going to overreact, however, as Winston was without No. 1 receiver Mike Evans (hamstring) and playing behind what has the looks of an awful offensive line. Winston's interception was all on him, though; he was under heavy pressure and staggering backward before throwing off his back foot into the middle of the field for an easy pick. After three preseason games, Winston is 23-of-47 for 311 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Kirk Cousins completed 20-of-27 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the Redskins' third preseason game.
Cousins looked scared in the pocket early in the game. His interception came on a screen pass when he forced the ball into a crowd, and he fumbled a snap on the first play of the next drive. He struggled with ball placement all night, and his touchdown came on a tipped ball which should have been intercepted. Cousins calmed down as the game wore on, and he was sharp two-minute touchdown drive to close out the first half. Even if Cousins opens the season as the starter, he should not be trusted in standard fantasy leagues.
Joseph Randle started the Cowboys' third preseason game, rushing six times for 15 yards.
He added an eight-yard reception. Randle got the ball on four of Dallas' first six plays, and carried the mail for the majority of the first quarter. As expected, Lance Dunbar operated as his change-of-pace back. Darren McFadden got some work with the first-team offense, but not until Dallas' fourth series. Randle is clearly going to get the first shot on early downs as the Cowboys begin the tall task of replacing DeMarco Murray, but he's a boom-or-bust RB2 in a crowded backfield. He finishes the preseason with 13 carries for 45 yards (3.46 YPC).
Jeremy Hill had 11 carries for 46 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's third preseason game.
Hill outsnaped Gio Bernard, who finished with five touches. He handled all goal-line work, but converted on just one of his five carries inside 10-yard line. The centerpiece of the Bengals offense, Hill is No. 16 overall in Rotoworld's Preseason Top 200.
Mike Wallace caught 3-of-3 targets for 50 yards in Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys.
Wallace made his first big play of the preseason in the first quarter, catching a 39-yard strike in traffic down the right sideline. "60 Minutes" finishes the exhibition season the owner of four grabs for 52 yards. Although officially the Vikings' No. 1 receiver, Wallace is vying with Charles Johnson for top status in the Vikes' receiver corps. He's a mid-range WR3 from a fantasy perspective.
Josh McCown completed 17-of-23 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns in the Browns' third preseason game Saturday night.
McCown was pretty sharp for the most part in the regular-season tuneup. He went 6-of-7 for 36 yards and a three-yard touchdown to Brian Hartline on a rollout play to the right on a first-quarter series. The Browns struggled a bit for much of the second quarter, but came out of the gate in the third quarter with McCown drilling Gary Barnidge for a seven-yard score. McCown also used his legs, rushing three times for 20 yards. After three preseason games, McCown is 29-of-38 for 207 yards and a 3:2 TD:INT ratio. His main job this season will be to not turn the ball over.
Tre Mason was forced from Saturday's preseason game with a right hamstring injury.
Mason took the rock four times for 12 yards before departing, adding two catches for an additional 19 yards. It's unclear how serious the issue might be. Mason has 15 days to get healthy for Week 1. Todd Gurley's backup/early-season fill-in finishes the preseason with nine carries for 24 yards. He's an RB3 with RB2 upside for the first month of the season. Gurley is going to be eased in.
