Giants recalled 3B Ryder Jones from Triple-A Sacramento.

The 23-year-old was hitting .299/.390/.553 with 10 homers, 33 RBI and five stolen bases in 53 games at Triple-A. He'll function as the team's primary third baseman at least initially while Eduardo Nunez is on the shelf.

Giants designated INF Aaron Hill for assignment.

The 35-year-old hit just .132/.250/.235 with one homer, seven RBI and a 13/11 K/BB ratio across 80 plate appearances. This could potentially be the end of the line if other teams aren't willing to take a chance on him on a minor league deal.

Eddie Rosario was scratched from the Twins' starting lineup on Saturday due to illness.

He joins Miguel Sano on the sidelines with whatever is going around the Twins' clubhouse. Chris Gimenez is starting in his place in left field and batting seventh for the Twins against Corey Kluber and the Indians.

Miguel Sano (illness) remains out of the Twins starting lineup on Saturday.

Sano missed Friday's contest due to illness and is still feeling under the weather on Saturday. Eduardo Escobar is drawing another start in his place at third base and will bat fifth for the Twins.

Reds manager Bryan Price confirmed Saturday that Luis Castillo will remain in the club's starting rotation.

Even with the return of Homer Bailey and Brandon Finnegan, the Reds will leave their prized pitching prospect in the rotation after he pitched well in Friday's debut against the Nationals. Castillo should be able to carve out mixed league value the remainder of the season due to his strikeout ability.

Pirates sent RHP Josh Lindblom outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Lindblom had been rehabbing his injury at Triple-A already. This move removes him from the club's 40-man roster.
Jun 24 - 2:46 PM

Michael Taylor has returned to the Nationals' starting lineup on Saturday.

He has been on the shelf since being scratched from Wednesday's game due to an undisclosed injury. Taylor is starting in center field and batting eighth against Homer Bailey and the Reds on Saturday.
Jun 24 - 12:57 PM

Eric Sogard (knee) is not in the Brewers' starting lineup on Saturday.

Sogard was removed from Friday's game after being hit by a pitch in his knee and apparently needs another day to rest. Keon Broxton has been elevated to the leadoff spot in the Brewers' lineup in a tasty matchup against James Shields and the White Sox.
