Colts RB Vick Ballard was forced from Thursday's preseason finale after aggravating his hamstring injury.
Ballard is simply never going to stay healthy at the NFL level. The fourth-year back should be waived/injured in the next 48 hours.
Dan Herron exited Thursday night's preseason finale with a shoulder injury and won't return.
It's worth noting that Herron battled a painful shoulder injury during last year's playoffs. The extent of this injury is unknown. Herron has been in the driver's seat to open the season as Frank Gore's primary backup.
DeVante Parker caught an 11-yard pass in the Dolphins' preseason finale Thursday night.
He played eight snaps. Recovered from June foot surgery, Parker was healthy enough to start Thursday night's game, although his quarterback was someone named McLeod Bethel-Thompson, or "MBT." MBT completed an 11-yard pass to Parker on Miami's second drive. Later, Parker got open deep downfield but was overthrown by Bethel-Thompson. Parker's participation in this game bodes well for his chances of having a role in Week 1 against the Redskins, even if it won't be as a starter. He figures to open the season as Miami's fourth or fifth receiver and should ascend as the year moves along.
Lions WR Greg Salas left Thursday night's preseason finale with a knee injury and won't return.
Battling for a roster spot, Salas has been a productive player in exhibition games for Detroit. The knee injury may ultimately cost him a shot at the 53.
Eagles ILB Kiko Alonso recorded two tackles in his preseason debut.
This was Alonso's first game action as an Eagle. Alonso looked quick and healthy making two early stops, but show some rust by biting on a play-action fake and losing his man in the flat for a medium gain. Alonso may get more practice time off as the health-conscious Eagles try to limit his reps, but he should be good to go for Week 1.
Jacob Tamme exited the Falcons' fourth preseason game with a back injury.
Tamme took a big hit to his lower back on a first-quarter catch. He stayed down of the field for a little bit, but ended up walking off the field. He is officially questionable to return, but he is almost certainly out for the game. Tamme has not done much in training camp, and getting playing time is not a great sign for his position on the depth chart.
Koa Misi will be the Dolphins' starting strong-side linebacker this season.
The Fins wanted high-end athlete Chris McCain to earn the gig, but he couldn't cut it. Misi is moving from middle linebacker, where two-down thumper Kelvin Sheppard has taken over. We suspect the Dolphins' two nickel backers will be Misi and WLB Jelani Jenkins, though they could also just use one linebacker in the majority of subpackages and insert an extra defensive back.
Browns RB Duke Johnson (concussion) is sidelined for Thursday's preseason finale.
Johnson was concussed last Saturday. He's likely to remain in the league's concussion protocol for at least another 2-3 days. The third rounder should be ready for next Sunday's opener, but it's not a guarantee. The Browns' first official practice report comes out in six days.
