With an average age of 27.0, the Raiders are the oldest team in the NFL following Saturday's cuts.

With an average age of 25.09, the Rams are the youngest. Yes, the Raiders — who have averaged five wins over the past 11 seasons — are somehow older than the two teams still starting quarterbacks drafted when Bill Clinton was president. It's a testament to the desperation that's gone into constructing Oakland's 2014 roster, and frankly, ridiculous. A team that should be stockpiling upside has instead populated itself with aging veterans other teams declined to pluck off the scrap heap. It's why time is likely running out on the Reggie McKenzie era, and why the Raiders are poised to remain one of the league's worst teams. Only a Rookie of the Year-caliber season from second-rounder Derek Carr at quarterback could make this team appear on the up and up.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports new Bills QB Kyle Orton will make $5 million this season.

As ex-Rotoworlder Chris Wesseling points out, that's as much as Josh McCown is making for the Bucs. The Bills have clearly lost faith in E.J. Manuel, and appear ready to turn to Orton at a moment's notice. Manuel will keep his job to begin the season as Orton gets up to speed on the playbook, but has no room for error. With the Bills hoping to field one of the league's run-heaviest offenses, Orton will be a bottom-barrel QB2 if/when he gets the call to replace Manuel.

Vikings waived or released S Chris Crocker, S Kurt Coleman, DT Chase Baker, DT Isame Faciane, TE Chase Ford, TE Allen Reisner, RB Joe Banyard, RB Dominique Williams, WR Kain Colter, WR Donte Foster, OL Mike Remmers, OL Jeff Baca, OL Zach Kerin, DE Justin Trattou, LB Mike Zimmer, LB Justin Jackson, CB Julian Posey and CB Kendall James.

No major surprises here, except for Christian Ponder sticking as the third quarterback. UDFA OT Tiny Richardson (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve. Jerome Simpson doesn't count against the 53-man roster as he serves his three-game suspension.
Aug 30 - 7:23 PM

Raiders waived/released RB Jeremy Stewart, RB George Atkinson III, DE Denico Autry, CB Chance Casey, OT Jack Cornell, LB Carlos Fields, LB Bojay Filimoeatu, LB Spencer Hadley, OT Dan Kistler, OT Erie Ladson, DT Ricky Lumpkin, OG Lamar Mady, TE Jake Murphy, WR Seth Roberts, DE Ryan Robinson, S Brandian Ross, OG Jarrod Shaw, K Giorgio Tavecchio and FB Karl Williams.

It's an uneventful list of players for a team that's still hurting for depth. Stewart has made 17 appearances over the past two seasons, though 25 of his 27 carries came in 2012.
Aug 30 - 7:23 PM

Cardinals released OT Nate Potter (shoulder) with an injury settlement.

Potter struggled in pass protection this preseason, losing out to Bradley Sowell for Arizona's swing tackle job. He's now free to sign with any team.
Aug 30 - 7:23 PM

Christian Ponder has made the Vikings' 53-man roster.

In something of a surprise, the Vikings are hanging onto Ponder as their third QB behind Matt Cassel and Teddy Bridgewater. It probably has something to do with his $1.76M guaranteed salary. Having received almost no first-team reps this month, Ponder is certainly on the trade block if anyone wants to bite.
Aug 30 - 7:17 PM

Cardinals waived/released WR Brittan Golden, RB Zach Bauman, OG Philip Blake, LB Jonathan Brown, WR Dan Buckner, C John Estes, DT Bruce Gaston, TE Andre Hardy, CB Jimmy Legree, OT Kelvin Palmer, OG Anthony Steen, S Curtis Taylor, LB Adrian Tracy, DT Christian Tupou, S Anthony Walters and CB Teddy Williams.

A third-year undrafted free agent, Golden spent the majority of 2013 on the active roster, catching four passes for 136 yards. He could be headed back to the practice squad.
Aug 30 - 7:12 PM

Seahawks waived RB Spencer Ware, TE RaShaun Allen, CB Akeem Auguste, RB Demitrius Bronson, WR Arceto Clark, QB B.J. Daniels, G Caylin Hauptmann, T Nate Isles, C Patrick Lewis, WR Chris Matthews, DE Benson Mayowa, S Terrance Parks, TE Morrell Presley, DT Andru Pulu, FB Kiero Small, DT Jimmy Staten, S Steven Terrell, LB Korey Toomer and WR Bryan Walters.

Ware, a 2013 sixth-rounder, tried to make the move from fullback to tailback. But with the Seahawks only keeping three backs (Marshawn Lynch, Robert Turbin, Christine Michael), he never had a shot. Interestingly, the Seahawks chose to keep seven wide receivers -- a group which includes former UDFA Phil Bates. B.J. Daniels is a practice squad candidate.
