Denard Span (back) is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Reds.
Span left Monday's game with back spasms. It's been a lingering issue for him, but he can be considered day-to-day right now. Michael Taylor will start in center field and hit leadoff Tuesday while Matt den Dekker will play left.
Marlins purchased the contract of INF/OF Jordany Valdespin from Triple-A New Orleans.
He'll take the roster spot of Marcell Ozuna, who was demoted on Sunday. Valdespin, 27, was batting .287/.342/.378 with one home run, 16 RBI, and six steals over 60 games in Triple-A. He could be relevant in NL-only leagues if the at-bats are there.
Brewers activated OF Khris Davis from the 15-day disabled list.
He'll start in left field Tuesday night against the Braves. Davis has been out since late May with a torn meniscus in his right knee. He returns to a .250/.337/.446 batting line with five homers and 16 RBI over 46 games.
Brewers optioned RHP David Goforth to Triple-A Colorado Springs.
The move clears the way for Khris Davis' return from the disabled list. Goforth didn't make an appearance during his most recent stint with the big club.
Marlon Byrd is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Nationals.
He's presumably getting the day off. Skip Schumaker will start in left field against Max Scherzer.
Starling Marte (oblique) is out of Tuesday's lineup against the Padres.
Marte left Sunday's game with discomfort in his left side and will now miss his second straight start. He's considered day-to-day right now, but fantasy owners would be wise to have a backup plan this week. Sean Rodriguez will start in left field Tuesday.
Braves optioned INF/OF Joey Terdoslavich to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Terdoslavich has hit just .167 (4-for-24) with a home run in 14 games with the Braves this season. He figures to get another shot later this summer.
Braves recalled RHP Michael Foltynewicz from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Foltynewicz struggled with a 5.19 ERA over nine starts with the Braves prior to being demoted last month. He's returning in a relief role.
