Randal Grichuk is getting the day off Thursday.

Jeremy Hazelbaker will start in center field and hit sixth versus Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff. Grichuk came into the 2016 season with lofty expectations, but he's batting just .186/.268/.384 in 26 games.

Aledmys Diaz is out of the Cardinals' starting lineup on Thursday afternoon against the Phillies.

Diaz finally got to hit higher than seventh on Wednesday night, serving as the Cardinals' leadoff man in a 5-4 victory, but he'll take a day of rest Thursday versus Phillies right-hander Jerad Eickhoff. Ruben Tejada is playing shortstop and batting eighth.

Ryan Howard is out of the Phillies' starting lineup Thursday afternoon against the Cardinals.

Howard has homered in two straight games, further bolstering his excellent career numbers in his hometown of St. Louis, but he'll be on the bench in Thursday's series finale with the Cardinals throwing left-hander Jaime Garcia. Darin Ruf is starting at first base and batting cleanup in the matinee game.

Maikel Franco is getting a day off Thursday.

The young third baseman is in a 2-for-22 slump, so he'll take a day of mental and physical rest in Thursday afternoon's series finale in St. Louis. Andres Blanco is starting at the hot corner and batting third versus Cardinals left-hander Jaime Garcia.

Cory Luebke (hamstring) earned a three-inning save in a rehab appearance Wednesday at Triple-A Indianapolis.

Those three innings were scoreless and Luebke struck out four. The left-hander has been on the disabled list since April 14 because of a right hamstring strain. He should return to the Bucs' bullpen soon, or at least that should be an option soon. Pittsburgh could officially option the oft-injured Luebke to the minors once his rehab assignment has concluded.

According to MLB.com's Mark Bowman, Braves officials "have been forced to at least discuss whether it makes sense to make a managerial change."

No manager can be expected to win with this current Braves roster, but then again nobody expected Fredi Gonzalez to survive the club's aggressive top-to-bottom rebuild. 2016 is Fredi's sixth year on the job and the Braves stand 7-20 on the season after falling 8-0 to the Mets on Wednesday afternoon. It might not be fair, but maybe it is time for something different. Bowman says bullpen coach Eddie Perez would likely be given managerial duties on an interim basis.
May 5 - 9:56 AM

Brad Boxberger (abdomen) is on track to begin a minor league rehab assignment next Thursday.

He'll work a pair of simulated appearances first -- one Friday and one Monday -- at the Rays' spring training complex in Port Charlotte, Florida. Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times says Boxberger is probably going to be asked to make six minor league appearances before the Rays consider activating him from the disabled list. He's been out all season after undergoing core muscle surgery in mid-March. Alex Colome is serving as Tampa Bay's fill-in closer.
May 5 - 9:06 AM

Matt Moore could be skipped on his next turn through the Rays' rotation.

Moore got pounded for seven runs on eight hits over just 4 1/3 innings Tuesday against the Dodgers and the Rays face a lefty-mashing team this weekend in the Angels. It might be a good time to get the 26-year-old southpaw a breather. Matt Andriese or Erasmo Ramirez could fill in versus Anaheim.
