Ryan Tepera was charged with a blown save in Sunday's series finale against the Angels, but he ended up earning the relief win when his offense picked him up in extra innings.

Tepera allowed just one hit with two strikeouts over 1 1/3 innings, but he allowed two inherited runners to score. Aaron Loup had his defense let him down before Tepera, as the Jays defense was sloppy all day. Tepera moved to 5-2 and actually lowered his ERA to 2.54, throwing 13 of his 19 pitches for strikes. The blown save will in no way endanger his standing as the team's ninth-inning fireman.

Sam Gaviglio allowed three earned runs, five hits and no walks with five strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision Sunday against the Angels.

Gaviglio didn't have a very good outing, uncorking a wild pitch and committing an error on a pop up while serving up a homer to Justin Upton of the Halos. He just returned from the paternity list, and it remains uncertain if he'll continue to work in the rotation or in middle relief now that Marcus Stroman is healthy again. Gaviglio is tentatively set to start again next Saturday against the Detroit, but that is subject to change.

Gerardo Parra went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 8-5 loss against the Marlins.

Parra has been red hot over the past 10 games, going 12-for-32 (.375) with four doubles, two homers and 17 RBI. He'll look to stay hot when the Rockies begin a set in San Francisco on Tuesday. He is hitting a robust .320 (41-for-128) iwht three homers and 17 RBI on the road this season.

Nolan Arenado went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 8-5 victory against the Marlins.

Arenado has been on fire lately, swatting homers in five of the past six games. Now, he'll be tasked with keeping the hot streak alive on the road when the team begins a series in San Francisco on Tuesday. He has twice as many homers (12) at home as he does on the road (6) in a similar number of at-bats. Arenado has hit well against San Francisco pitching this season, going 11-for-30 (.367) with three doubles, a home run and seven RBI.

German Marquez was gashed for six runs - five earned - and nine hits with three walks and six strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings in a loss Sunday against the Marlins.

At least Marquez salvaged the stat line somewhat for fantasy owners with a healthy amount of strikeouts, but he was all over the board in Sunday's series finale. The starter threw just 52 of his 82 pitches for strikes, while Trevor Story didn't help matters by booting a grounder. Marquez managed first-pitch strikes to just 12 of the 24 batters he faced. He'll look to rebound next Saturday on the road against the Dodgers. Marquez is 2-5 with a 7.93 ERA in nine starts at home, but he is 3-3 with a 3.07 ERA in seven starts on the road. Marquez is also 1-0 with a 3.46 ERA in two outings against L.A., and the Dodgers are hitting just .188 against him over 13 innings.

The Yankees are expected to recall catcher Kyle Higashioka from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday.

That would correspond with Gary Sanchez heading to the disabled list, which looks exceedingly likely. The 28-year-old has struggled mightily with the bat at Triple-A this season, slashing a putrid .191/.265/.328 with five homers and 22 RBI. He would provide depth behind Austin Romine while Sanchez is on the shelf.

J.T. Realmuto went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and an RBI in Sunday's 8-5 victory in Colorado.

Realmuto continues to add to his already impressive stats, although the general public has completely ignored him in All-Star voting. He has the most impressive stats among all catchers in major league baseball, but he isn't even in the Top 5 in voting among NL backstops. Sad.
Jun 24 - 10:06 PM

Kyle Barraclough worked a perfect ninth inning Sunday in Colorado for his seventh save.

Barraclough entered with a three-game lead, but he didn't need the big cushion. He mowed through the Rockies hitters he faced, throwing seven of his 10 pitches for strikes while lowering his ERA to a microscopic 1.05. The Marlins might not win many games, but when he comes in it is lights out. He won't fritter many leads away when he gets the chance for the save.
