Victor Martinez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in the second game of a double header against the White Sox on Saturday.

His longball in the ninth inning seemed like an insurance run at the time as it gave his club a 4-0 lead with half an inning to go. But the White Sox would score three runs in the bottom of the ninth and Martinez' home run ended up being the deciding factor in the ballgame. He also walked twice in the contest. He walked three times in the first game and reached base in seven of nine plate appearances on the day. He is batting .264/.350/.387 with four homers and 25 RBI in 44 games.

John Hicks smacked a solo home run in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader with the White Sox.

His shot was the only run the Tigers got against starter Derek Holland, but they added three more against the bullpen to pull out a split in the doubleheader. Hicks was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Friday to serve as the backup catcher while James McCann is on the disabled list. He is batting .371/.389/.629 with two homers and nine RBI in 36 plate appearances in the majors this year.

Updating an earlier report, Kolten Wong was scratched from Saturday's game against the Rockies with left elbow stiffness.

It's the same injury that sidelined Wong earlier this week. Greg Garcia is starting at second base on Saturday and would likely draw another start there if Wong can't go on Sunday. Until we hear otherwise, consider Wong day-to-day.

Tim Anderson went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday evening's loss to the Tigers.

Anderson singled in a run in the ninth inning, then came around to score on a triple by Yolmer Sanchez. He has hit well of late and is sporting a .263 batting average with five homers, 22 runs scored and 12 RBI. The 23-year-old starting shortstop has so far been unable to match the .283/.306/.432 slash line he put up as a rookie last year.
May 27 - 10:17 PM

Yolmer Sanchez went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI as his club lost the second game of a doubleheader against the Tigers on Saturday.

His triple in the ninth inning against Tigers closer Justin Wilson brought the White Sox within a run but they couldn't complete the comeback. Sanchez has hit his way into everyday playing time of late. He is batting .306/.346/.430 with two home runs and 15 RBi in 121 at-bats. The 24-year-old makes for a nice speculative add in deep fantasy leagues.

Derek Holland took a tough-luck loss on Saturday after allowing one run in six innings to the Tigers.

A solo home run by John Hicks in the fourth inning was all the damage it took to send Holland home with a loss. The veteran left-hander allowed seven base hits and four walks while punching out eight batters. He falls to 4-4 despite a stellar 2.37 ERA in his first campaign with the White Sox. He will face the Tigers again on Friday.

Cameron Maybin finished 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases to lead the Angels to a 5-2 win over the Marlins on Saturday.

Maybin had a single and a triple -- his first triple this season -- in the game, and he twice victimized Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto for stolen bases. He's now got 12 steals in 13 tries, second-most in the American League. He's hitting .247/.369/.380 overall, including batting .280 in the month of May.
May 27 - 10:00 PM

Yoenis Cespedes was held out of Saturday's rehab game for High-A St. Lucie due to right quad soreness.

He suffered the injury while running the bases in a rehab game on Friday night. The Mets are hoping it's only a minor setback as Cespedes is tentatively expected to resume batting practice on Tuesday. A hamstring injury has sidelined Cespedes since late April.
