Jason Grilli blew his second save of the season Saturday as the Pirates fell to the Brewers.

Grilli entered the game to protect a one-run lead and struck out Carlos Gomez to lead off the top of the ninth inning. But Jean Segura singled and then Ryan Braun slugged a two-run homer that put the Brewers ahead for good. Grill is just 4-for-6 in save opportunities this season, though his job seems pretty safe for now.

Francisco Rodriguez picked up his sixth save of the season Saturday in the Brewers' win over the Pirates.

K-Rod tossed a perfect ninth inning to lock down Milwaukee's 13th win in 18 games. He has not been scored upon in 2014 and has been among the most valuable fantasy closers through the first three weeks of the season. It was K-Rod's 310th career save, tying him with Goose Gossage for 20th on the all-time major league leaderboard.
Apr 19 - 10:23 PM

Matt Garza allowed six runs -- five earned -- in five innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Pirates.

Garza deserved the loss after his rough outing, but Ryan Braun bailed him out with a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning. Garza was tagged for eight hits and surrendered three walks, and stands 0-2 on the year with a 4.50 ERA. This is not what the Brewers had in mind when they shelled out a four-year, $52 million deal. He'll try to rebound next week against the Cubs.
Apr 19 - 10:20 PM

Wandy Rodriguez surrendered four earned runs over four innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Brewers.

Rodriguez had nothing, topping out at 89 mph with his fastball while yielding six hits in his four frames. He now has a 7.65 ERA and 1.60 WHIP in 20 innings this season, and it's hard to see the situation improving anytime soon. The Pirates may have to try someone else.
Apr 19 - 10:17 PM

Ivan Nova left his start Saturday against the Rays after experiencing right elbow soreness.

Tests are already in the works. Nova had allowed eight earned runs in four innings at the time of his departure, inflating his season ERA from 5.94 to 8.27.
Apr 19 - 10:07 PM

Henderson Alvarez tossed a shutout Saturday in the Marlins' 7-0 stomping of the Mariners.

It was the third career shutout for Alvarez, who looked sharp all night and even carried a perfect game into the sixth inning. He surrendered just two hits in all while fanning four batters and issuing zero walks. The 24-year-old right-hander will try to stay hot in his next start on the road against the Mets. Consistency has been an issue for him.
Apr 19 - 9:45 PM

Marcell Ozuna drove in four runs as the Marlins bested the Mariners on Saturday night in Miami.

Ozuna slugged a three-run shot over the left field fence in the bottom of the sixth inning and added an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth. Off to a scorching start this season, he's now batting .343 with a .912 OPS, 10 RBI, and 12 runs scored in 17 games played. That's an unsustainable level of production, but the 23-year-old looks like a solid third outfielder in mixed fantasy leagues for the time being.
Apr 19 - 9:40 PM

Roenis Elias was shelled for six runs -- four earned -- in 5 2/3 innings Saturday as the Mariners fell to the Marlins.

Elias didn't have much working and wound up yielding eight hits and issuing five walks in his five-plus frames. The 25-year-old left-hander watched his ERA jump from 2.16 to 3.22, and he'll carry a 1-2 record into his next scheduled outing at home against the Rangers. It's one to avoid for fantasy purposes.
