Wei-Yin Chen delivered another impressive outing in Friday's victory over the Mariners, allowing just one run on five hits over 7 1/3 innings of work.

The veteran left-hander punched out eight on the night while walking only one. The only blemish on his evening was an RBI double by Kendrys Morales in the fourth inning. Now 12-3 on the season, he'll head into Thursday's start against the Blue Jays in Toronto with a 3.76 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 90/21 K/BB ratio.

Robinson Cano reached base three times on Friday and scored the Mariners lone run in a loss to the Orioles

Cano finished the night 2-for-3 and also drew a walk, raising his season slash to an impressive .331/.392/.454. His power numbers have been down though in his first season with the Mariners, with just seven homers and 59 RBI on the season.
Aug 1 - 9:54 PM

Chris Denorfia struggled in his Mariners debut on Friday, going 0-for-4 in a losing effort against the Orioles.

Denorfia got the start in right field and hit sixth in the lineup against opposing southpaw Wei-Yin Chen. It's unclear at the moment just how often he'll be used in the M's lineup, but if he finds himself getting regular at-bats, he should be able to carve out mixed league fantasy value.
Aug 1 - 9:52 PM

Marlon Byrd went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 2-1 win over the Nationals.

Byrd, who was one of many notable untraded players on the Phillies, hit a go-ahead solo home run in the sixth inning off Doug Fister. It was his only hit of the game, but that run would end up being the difference, as neither team scored again. The bomb was Byrd's 21st and gave him his 63rd RBI on the year. He's slashing .271/.319/.481 on the year.
Aug 1 - 9:51 PM

Roenis Elias pitched well in a losing effort against the Orioles on Friday, surrendering two runs (one earned) on seven hits over his 5 2/3 innings.

Elias punched out seven on the evening while walking just one. Unfortunately for him, Wei-Yin Chen was a bit better on the other side of the diamond and held the Mariner bats in check. He'll bring a 4.19 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 117/46 K/BB ratio into Thursday's matchup against the White Sox.
Aug 1 - 9:50 PM

David Ross was forced to leave Friday's game against the Yankees due to a recurrence of his plantar fasciitis.

It's an injury that Ross has been dealing with for some time now, and has been noticeably hobbled while running the bases of late. He shouldn't be expected to return to the Red Sox lineup for at least a couple of days.
Aug 1 - 9:46 PM

Ryan Vogelsong allowed just two hits in a complete game 5-1 win over the Mets on Friday night.

It was the second complete game of his career and his first of the nine-inning variety. Vogelsong needed 102 pitches to go the distance, walking just one batter while striking out five. This was his first win since way back on June 21, which brings him to 6-8 with a 3.74 ERA for the year. He'll try to keep it going next week against the Brewers in Milwaukee.
Aug 1 - 9:44 PM

Roberto Hernandez pitched eight innings of one-run ball to pick up his sixth win of the season on Friday against the Nationals.

Hernandez was incredibly efficient in his eight innings of work, throwing only 94 pitches. The lack of both strikeouts (three) and walks (one) help to explain that. He gave up an RBI single to Ian Desmond in the second and that was all she wrote. The win moves Hernandez to 6-8 on the season. Hernandez holds a 3.87 ERA. This marks back-to-back starts in which Hernandez has gone seven innings or deeper.
