Kenley Jansen allowed a walk with a strikeout in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning in Monday's win against Minnesota.

The All-Star Jansen nailed down his 25th save, bouncing back from his first blown chance of the season on Sunday afternoon against Atlanta. By his lofty standards, Jansen has had two shaky outings in a row. And the fact he has thrown 34 pitches over the past two days might mean he is unavailable Tuesday should a save chance arise.
Jul 25 - 4:36 AM

Hyun-Jin Ryu (foot) returned to action in Monday's no-decision against the Twins, allowing two runs, five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over five innings.

Ryu threw 50 of his 79 pitches for strikes, and it is likely his pitch count was capped somewhat since he was making his first start after a month-long layoff due to a bruised foot. His next scheduled start is tentatively set for Saturday at home against the rival Giants.

Jason Castro posted a pair of doubles with an RBI in Monday's road loss against the Dodgers.

Castro continues to see regular playing time despite the fact he is still hitting just .223. However, he is showing some signs of life with multi-hit performances in two of his past three outings. Still, he is nothing more than a No. 2 fantasy option in most AL formats.
Jul 25 - 4:28 AM

Eddie Rosario posted a pair of doubles, a solo home run, two runs scored and three RBI in Monday's road loss against the Dodgers.

Rosario has rolled up two or more hits in three straight games and he is hitting a robust .369 (24-for-65) with 10 doubles, a home run and 10 RBI in the month of July while posting an outstanding .969 OPS. He has increased his average from .276 to .296 since the calendar flipped to July.
Jul 25 - 4:22 AM

Bartolo Colon allowed three earned runs, eight hits and no walks over five innings with two strikeouts in a no-decision Monday in a road start against the Dodgers.

Colon threw 44 of his 64 pitches for strikes, pitching slightly better than his team debut against the Yankees last Tuesday. Still, he is 0-1 with a 7.00 ERA over two starts since signing with Minnesota. Since the Twins are in contention, it's hard to see them giving him many more chances until he shows dramatic improvement soon.
Jul 25 - 4:12 AM

Jean Segura finished 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a hit by pitch in Monday's victory against the visiting Red Sox.

Segura was clipped on the foot on the HBP but he was fine and able to remain in the game. In fact, the Red Sox didn't feel he was hit by the offering from Eduardo Rodriguez, and they challenged the ruling to no avail. The double was Segura's first hit in four games, snapping 15 at-bats hitless skid.
Jul 25 - 3:43 AM

Ben Gamel finished 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored in Monday's win against Boston.

Gamel has hit safely in 11 straight outings, going 15-for-46 (.326) with three doubles, a triple, two homers and six RBI during the impressive run. Oddly enough the hitting streak hasn't really helped or hurt his fantasy value, as his average is the same .323 as it was when the streak started July 14.
Jul 25 - 3:41 AM

James Paxton allowed just four singles with no walks over seven scoreless innings while striking out 10 batters in Monday's victory against the Red Sox.

Paxton rolled to his 10th victory of the season, and his fifth consecutive win. He is a perfect 5-0 with a 1.62 ERA across 33 1/3 innings over five starts in the month of July after posting a 1-3 with a dismal 7.20 ERA in five outings in June. Paxton is back and looking like a fantasy stud after inexplicable issues last month.
