Yunel Escobar was ejected from Saturday's game against the Reds for arguing a called strike three.

He was tossed in the seventh inning. Danny Espinosa took over for Escobar at third base with Dan Uggla moving to second base. Escobar went 2-for-4 with a double before his ejection.
May 30 - 6:59 PM

Adam Eaton went 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts in Saturday's loss to the Astros.

Eaton's mess of a season continues. He's now hitting .233/.292/.344 with just two homers and six RBI. He does have 26 runs scored. Be patient with him, as the talent's still there, but nobody will look down on you if you ride him on the pine until he shows some sign of breaking out of this horrific early season slump.
May 30 - 6:54 PM

Dallas Keuchel was flat-out dominant in Saturday's 3-0 win over the White Sox, striking out 11 in a complete game shutout.

Keuchel had everything working against the White Sox. Not only did he strike out 11, he did so without walking a batter. With the spectacular effort, he dropped his ERA to a stellar 1.76, to go with a 0.91 WHIP and 60/21 K/BB ratio over 81 2/3 innings. It's been a beautiful season to this point. The Orioles are up next on Keuchel's schedule.
May 30 - 6:50 PM

Angels recalled INF/OF Efren Navarro from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Navarro has demolished minor league pitching this season, hitting .370 across 108 Triple-A at-bats. The 29-year-old was called up to replace struggling relief pitcher Vinnie Pestano.
May 30 - 6:48 PM

Jose Quintana pitched a solid game against the Astros on Saturday, throwing 6 1/3 innings of one-run ball.

Quintana and Dallas Keuchel were locked in an old school pitcher's duel, with Quintana blinking first when Jonathan Villar hit a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning. The 26-year-old southpaw struck out seven and likely would have been able to pitch deeper if he hadn't walked four. Quintana now holds a 4.33 ERA and 1.36 WHIP. The numbers aren't particularly great, but he has gone at least six innings in six of his last seven starts, so the innings are there if nothing else. He'll take to the road against the Tigers in his next outing.
May 30 - 6:47 PM

Angels optioned RHP Vinnie Pestano to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Even without allowing an earned run in his last five outings, Pestano's ERA still sits at a mediocre 4.22. The 30-year-old has been particularly bad against left-handers, allowing them to hit .357 in 14 at-bats. Outfielder Efren Navarro will take Pestano's spot on the 25-man roster.
May 30 - 6:45 PM

Erick Aybar (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Tigers.

It's Aybar's second absence in a row. He'll go through a full workout Saturday and should be back in the lineup on Sunday. Taylor Featherston is likely to grab another start at shortstop. Aybar left Thursday's game with a pulled left hamstring.
May 30 - 6:39 PM

Eddie Butler fired six innings of one-run ball in a 5-2 win over the Phillies on Saturday.

Butler moved up a day in the rotation after Jorge De La Rosa (finger) was scratched. He gave up an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning, but held the Phillies off the board the rest of the way. Butler induced 11 ground balls while striking out three and walking just one batter. This was his first win since April 24. Butler owns a 4.22 ERA on the year with a troubling 26/28 K/BB ratio over 49 innings, so he's not a consideration in most fantasy leagues.
