Sonny Gray (lat) has been playing catch from 120 feet.

Gray was throwing from 105 feet earlier this week, so his arm strength is obviously improving. The A's still haven't laid out a plan for when he'll resume mound work. Even if Gray hits all his marks, the best he can probably hope for is a return in mid to late April.

Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports the Cardinals and Yadier Molina have agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Specifics aren't available yet, though Rosenthal said the deal is worth between $55-65 million. If it's on the higher end of that spectrum, Molina will surpass Buster Posey as the league's highest-paid catcher. The 34-year-old has earned seven All-Star nods since breaking into the big leagues in 2004. This deal should give Molina a chance to retire with St. Louis.

Dodgers reassigned C Bobby Wilson to minor league camp.

Wilson had very little chance of making the team with Yasmani Grandal and Austin Barnes ahead of him on the catching depth chart. He brought his power stroke to the Cactus League, bopping four homers in only 40 at-bats. The 33-year-old hit .237 over 75 games for the Rays, Rangers and Tigers last season.

Dodgers optioned LHP Julio Urias to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The Dodgers have been extremely cautious with Urias this spring, limiting him to just five appearances in the Cactus League. He'll need a few weeks to get stretched out in the minors before he's ready to join the Dodgers' rotation. Expect him to arrive sometime in mid to late April.

Dodgers optioned OF Trayce Thompson to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

He was passed over in favor of Kike Hernandez and Scott Van Slyke. Thompson could have helped his case with a good showing in the Cactus League but instead he hit just .226 with 12 strikeouts over 31 at-bats. Thompson is coming off a stress fracture in his back that caused him to miss the entire second half of 2016.

Trey Mancini has made the Orioles' Opening Day roster.

Baltimore's last two bench spots went to Mancini and Joey Rickard while Pedro Alvarez, Robert Andino, Alec Asher, Chris Dickerson, Johnny Giavotella and Logan Verrett were all sent down. Mancini earned his spot by hitting .333 with three round-trippers and 14 RBI over 60 Grapefruit League at-bats. With Mark Trumbo at DH and Chris Davis starting at first base, Mancini's opportunities will be few and far between.

Dodgers optioned 3B/OF Chris Taylor to Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Taylor had a terrific spring for the Dodgers but it was always going to be tough for him to make the team with Justin Turner blocking his path at third base. He hit .370 with four steals during his 21-game stint in the Cactus League. The 26-year-old should see time in Chavez Ravine later in the year.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said he doesn't have a "plan" for how Manny Pina and Jett Bandy will share playing time behind the plate.

Pina and Bandy will be the Brewers' Opening Day catchers while Andrew Susac recovers from trapezius discomfort. Combined the two have logged just 298 career at-bats in the big leagues. Ultimately it should be close to a 50/50 split, though neither are recommended fantasy options.
