In his return from Tommy John surgery, Patrick Corbin pitched five innings of two-run ball and recorded a win over the Rockies on Saturday.

Corbin allowed eight hits, three for extra bases, but he was able to spread them around enough to leave with a lead. It helped a lot that he walked no one. His fastball was consistently in the low-90s, and 56 of his 76 pitches were strikes. Corbin isn't a recommended mixed-league pitcher just yet, but he definitely has the ability. He's well worth the flier in deeper leagues.

A.J. Pollock went 2-for-5 with two RBI and two steals versus the Rockies on Saturday.

Pollock is 18-for-23 stealing bases this year, which is a big reason why he's been an elite fantasy outfielder. He entered the season with 27 steals in 243 games as a major leaguer. His 18 this year have come in 80 games.
Jul 5 - 1:37 AM

D.J. LeMahieu broke out of a slump with a 3-for-4 game Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

LeMahieu hadn't had a multihit game since June 11, even though he's been batting second and usually getting five plate appearances per game. His average, which stood at .351 on June 11, entered tonight at .293, but it's back up to .300 now. He's not a bad option in mixed leagues for as long as he bats second, but he'll probably end up back at the bottom of the order at some point.

Hector Santiago blanked the Rangers for seven innings, allowing just three hits, as the Angels rolled to a 13-0 win on Saturday.

It was an easy win for Santiago, but it's still impressive that he was able to thrive despite some long waits. He's allowed a total of two runs in his last three starts, and his ERA is all of the way down to 2.40. It might well earn him a spot on the All-Star team.
Jul 5 - 1:23 AM

Wandy Rodriguez gave up five runs in five innings Saturday in a loss to the Angels.

Rodriguez managed to survive the Orioles earlier in the week, but he's given up 28 hits and eight walks over 14 innings in his last three starts. The Rangers will stick with him, but AL-only leaguers don't have as much reason to do so.
Jul 5 - 1:21 AM

C.J. Cron went 3-for-6 with a three-run homer and six RBI in the rout the Rangers on Saturday.

The outburst was appreciated, but Cron needs to come up big in games the Angels aren't winning 13-0. He entered the night with a .198/.228/.281 line and a 30/2 K/BB ratio in 121 at-bats. The Angels are starved for offense, though, so this might earn him some extra playing time.
Jul 5 - 1:18 AM

Kole Calhoun went 2-for-4 with a homer and a walk against the Rangers on Saturday.

Calhoun also doubled twice and drove in four runs Friday. The Angels badly need for him to get going, especially in the power department. His fantasy owners would appreciate it, too.
Jul 5 - 1:16 AM

Elvis Andrus went hitless in a fourth straight game Saturday, dropping his average to .237.

Andrus seemed to be heating up last week, but it proved to be a mirage. It'd be one thing if he were still the excellent defensive shortstop he was a couple of years ago, but since he's not, he's a definite problem for the Rangers right now.
