Jeremy Guthrie was obliterated for 11 earned runs in one official inning of work Monday by the Yankees.

Chase Headley, Brian McCann, and Brett Gardner all went deep in the bottom of the first inning and then Stephen Drew's three-run shot with no outs in the second finally drove Guthrie from the game. He entered the afternoon outing with a 4.75 ERA and watched it rise all the way up to 6.70. Guthrie is not a fantasy starter.

Alejandro De Aza went 0-for-3 from the ninth spot in the Orioles order on Monday.

De Aza is just 8-for-42 in May (.190), bringing his overall average down to .216. He's already lost some playing time against right-handers, and it looks like he's in position to lose more to David Lough and Travis Snider.
May 25 - 4:35 PM

Batting leadoff again, George Springer went 3-for-5 and hit his seventh homer Monday versus the Orioles.

Springer hit leadoff Sunday with Jose Altuve getting the day off, and since the Astros scored 10 runs, manager A.J. Hinch decided to leave him there today and drop Altuve down to the two hole. Obviously, it went well for Springer, though he did make the final out of the game in the 4-3 loss. In the long run, it's going to make more sense to hit Springer below Altuve.

Bartolo Colon held the Phillies to three runs in six innings Monday in the Mets' 6-3 victory.

Colon walked two and gave up six hits, but only one of those hits -- a Freddy Galvis double -- went for extra bases. Colon fanned six Philadelphia hitters and is now 7-3 with a 4.82 ERA, 1.20 WHIP, and 52/5 K/BB ratio in 61 2/3 innings this season. The big man remains a strong matchup-to-matchup fantasy starter, and he has a pretty good one at home against the Rockies on Sunday.
May 25 - 4:32 PM

Jake Marisnick went 0-for-4 and struck out three times Monday against the Orioles.

Marisnick has struck out 25 times in 74 at-bats this month after whiffing just 10 times in 58 at-bats in April. He's also hitting .189 in May after coming in at .379 in April. The Astros aren't going to want him send him down, not when he's still contributing with the glove in center field, but he should be due less playing time going forward.
May 25 - 4:31 PM

Severino Gonzalez allowed three earned runs in 4 1/3 innings Monday as the Phillies fell to the Mets.

Gonzalez struck out eight and didn't walk a batter, but the Mets were able to take advantage of his aggressive approach in their 6-3 victory, cranking two home runs and six total hits. Gonzalez has a 6.88 ERA and 1.71 WHIP in 17 innings (four starts) this season for Philly. He is not a good fantasy option.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter expects J.J. Hardy (back) to be in the lineup on Tuesday.

Hardy dealt with a tight back throughout Monday's game before finally exiting in the eighth inning. The shortstop thinks he just slept funny, though, and is expected to be fine.
May 25 - 4:27 PM

Wilmer Flores cranked his seventh home run of the season Monday in the Mets' defeat of the Phillies.

And just like that, he is leading all major league shortstops in home runs. Flores was retired in his other three at-bats Monday and is batting just .252 with a .287 on-base percentage for the season, but his pop gives him value at a position where production is scarce.
