White Sox released RHP Henry Rodriguez.

Rodriguez held a 21.60 ERA while walking eight over just 1 2/3 innings with Triple-A Charlotte after signing a minor league deal last month. He'll get another chance somewhere with his high-90s velocity, but Rodriguez is a long shot at this point to make it back to the majors this season.

Angels recalled INF/OF Grant Green from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Green has batted .324/.333/.419 in the majors this season but played sparingly during his last stint. It's unlikely that he'll come into much playing time this time around.

Angels placed OF Collin Cowgill on the 15-day disabled list with a nasal fracture.

Cowgill needed stitches after being hit by a pitch Saturday and he apparently also broke his nose. He evidently also is dealing with a small fracture in his right thumb. Cowgill needs surgery and will be out 4-5 weeks. Grant Green has replace him on the roster.

Red Sox manager John Farrell indicated Sunday that it's possible Shane Victorino (back) will be activated from the disabled list at the start of the second half.

It seems unlikely, though, given that he's yet to play a full rehab game. Victorino has had multiple setbacks during his rehab assignment, so it's unsafe to expect him to return on any certain day until he's officially activated.

Angels prospect right-hander Cam Bedrosian struck out one batter in a perfect inning for Double-A Arkansas on Saturday.

Bedrosian needed just 12 pitches to retire all three batters in the ninth inning, including a strikeout looking to end the game. He features a mid-90s fastball and a hard, two-plane slider that are the arsenal of a dominant closer.

Blue Jays prospect third baseman Mitch Nay went 2-for-4 with a double for Low-A Lansing on Saturday.

Nay has hit .404/.435/.526 with seven doubles during his 14-game hitting streak, raising his season line to .291/.351/.389. The 20-year old Arizona-native has hit well for the season, but Jays fans would like to see him tap into his power during game situations. Nay is likely to stay in the Midwest League for the rest of the year, then spend 2015 in the High-A Florida State League.

Cliff Lee (elbow) is on track to rejoin the Phillies' rotation on July 21 versus the Giants.

He originally had been pegged for a July 19 return, but the Phils will apparently give him a couple extra days. Lee will make what will be his final rehab start at High-A Clearwater on Monday, provided he doesn't have a setback. He has allowed three runs over six innings in his first two rehab outings.
Jul 13 - 12:07 PM

Mariners right-handed pitching prospect Taijuan Walker scattered four hits and one walk over five innings, allowing one run for Triple-A Tacoma.

Walker pitched well against a Fresno Bears lineup that included Gary Brown, Adam Duvall, Andrew Susac, and Travis Ishikawa. He threw 50 of his 83 pitches for strikes (60.2 percent), and two of the four hits were double. Walker will be back in the major leagues in about a week to make a start against the New York Mets.
