Nomar Mazara is absent from the Rangers starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees.

It looks to be just a routine day of rest for the hard-hitting outfielder. He's hitting .271/.340/.451 with 10 homers and 46 RBI through 68 games this season.

Tyler Austin is starting at first base and batting seventh for the Yankees on Saturday against Austin Bibens-Dirkx and the Rangers.

Austin was recalled on Saturday to replace the struggling Chris Carter who was designated for assignment. The 25-year-old hit .241/.300/.458 with five homers and 12 RBI in 90 plate appearances for the Yankees in 2016.

Diamondbacks signed RHP Louis Coleman to a minor league contract.

The right-hander opted out of his minor league deal with the Reds earlier in the week after posting a 2.21 ERA and 44/16 K/BB ratio over 36 2/3 innings at Triple-A Louisville. He should work his way into the bullpen mix at the big league level in relatively short order.

Diamondbacks optioned OF Jeremy Hazelbaker to Triple-A Reno.

The 29-year-old outfielder has performed well in his limited action with the big league club, slashing .318/.412/.477 with one homer, six RBI and a 16/7 K/BB ratio in 51 plate appearances. He'll surely get another opportunity with the D'Backs before long.

Yankees recalled 1B Tyler Austin from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

He's taking the place of Chris Carter on the active roster, who was designated for assignment after Friday's game. Austin wsa hitting .300/.366/.560 with four homers and 21 RBI in 27 games at Triple-A. He should see regular playing time at first base and is worth a look as a corner infield option in deeper mixed leagues.

Rays activated C Wilson Ramos from the 60-day disabled list.

Ramos is expected to make his Rays' debut on Saturday. The 29-year-old backstop had a career year in 2016, slashing .307/.354/.496 with 22 homers and 80 RBI in only 131 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury. He shouldn't be available on any waiver wires, but if he is in shallow leagues, pounce now.

In his return from the disabled list, Felix Hernandez surrendered three runs and eight hits in six innings Friday against the Astros.

Hernandez looked fine tonight and got himself a win in a 13-3 game, but this is about what should be expected from him these days. He gave up two homers tonight, bringing his total allowed to eight in just 32 2/3 innings. Until he puts a run of strong outings together, he should be treated as a spot starter in mixed leagues.

Yovani Gallardo picked up his first career save with three scoreless innings Friday against the Astros.

Gallardo, demoted to the pen earlier this week, made his first relief appearance since making three as a rookie in 2007 and finished off the Mariners' 13-3 win. Obviously, three three-inning blowout saves are the only ones that he's a candidate for.
