Chris Taylor doubled and homered in a loss to the Padres on Saturday.

Taylor's homer was a leadoff shot against Jordan Lyles to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead in the first. He's up to seven on the season, and the double gives Taylor 11 in 2018. The average leaves a lot to be desired at .241, but he has an .846 OPS in the month of May, and you should expect his .241/.330/.442 slash to increase as the season progresses.

A.J. Ellis went 2-for-4 with a homer on Saturday against the Padres.

It's the first homer for Ellis of the 2018 season, and it came off Alex Wood in the fifth inning. Ellis has been a real find for the San Diego lineup, and he's now slashing .315/.406/.444 over 19 games. He should continue to get plenty of playing time with Austin Hedges on the disabled list for the foreseeable future.

Brad Hand pitched a scoreless ninth on Saturday against the Dodgers to pick up a save.

The only blemish was a walk, and he struck out one. It's the 16th save of the season for the southpaw on 18 tries, and the scoreless outing lowers his ERA to an even 2.00 with 40 strikeouts in 27 innings.

Alex Wood was able to strike out seven over five innings of work, but also allowed five runs in a no decision against the Padres on Saturday.

Wood was able to miss bats as he has for most of the 2018 season, which is good. Unfortunately, he allowed three homers -- two of them to Freddy Galvis -- and didn't have great command of his stuff against a less-than-spectacular San Diego lineup. His ERA now sits at 3.75, and he's struck out 62 hitters in 58 1/3 innings with just 10 walks. We'll see Wood back on the mound against the Rockies on Friday in Coors Field.
May 27 - 1:25 AM

Jordan Lyles gave up five runs in 4 2/3 innings in a no decision against the Dodgers on Saturday.

Lyles walked four and struck out four, and allowed two homers. He's now had back-to-back poor efforts on the mound, and in the process, his ERA has jumped all the way to 3.83 from 2.53 because of the struggles. Not exactly a surprise, but disappointing nonetheless. Lyles will try to right the ship on Thursday against the Marlins.
May 27 - 1:24 AM

Christian Villanueva homered twice and drove in three runs in a 7-5 victory over the Dodgers on Saturday.

Villanueva's first blast came off of Alex Wood in the sixth inning with a runner on, and he added insurance with a solo shot off of Josh Fields. The surprising slugger now has 14 homers on the season, and while he's not hitting for average like he was at the beginning of the year, the power is still very much there. Villanueva now owns an .887 OPS over his 44 games this year. He's one of the best stories to begin the 2018 season.
May 27 - 1:24 AM

Edwin Encarnacion went 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and three runs scored, and the Indians outlasted the Astros 8-6 on Saturday.

The two sides combined for six homers in the contest, and Encarnacion and his parrot got in on the action with a two-run shot in the fifth inning. He's now got 11 homers on the year, and the 35-year-old has begun to heat up in recent days, picking up five hits in his last seven at-bats. Fantasy owners have been waiting for his usual summer warm-up, and perhaps this is the beginning of a big stretch for Encarnacion.
May 27 - 12:30 AM

Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 with an RBI in a loss to the Reds on Saturday.

The RBI came on a triple, the second three-bagger of the season for the star outfielder. Unfortunately, Blackmon will probably remember tonight for grounding out with the bases loaded and nobody out. He's still hitting a very strong .274/.375/.525 on the year with 12 homers and 24 RBI in his 47 games.
