Jordan Howard handled 23 carries for 138 yards with two touchdowns and a lost fumble while adding five catches for a team-high 26 yards on five targets Sunday in the Bears’ Week 3 win over the Steelers.

Playing with a sprained AC joint in his shoulder, Howard was nothing short of spectacular in Sunday’s victory, which happened to be the Bears’ first of the season. Howard got Chicago on the board early with a three-yard touchdown early in the first quarter and put the game on ice with a walk-off 19-yard score less than two minutes into overtime. His 28 touches Sunday were more than he had in his previous two games combined. Howard’s shoulder was definitely bothering him, particularly in the second half when he was slow to get up almost every time he got hit, but he gutted it out and came up big when the Bears needed him. It will be interesting to see how he holds up on the short week with Chicago headed to Green Bay on Thursday night.

Markus Wheaton couldn’t haul in either of his two targets Sunday in the Bears’ Week 3 win over the Steelers.

It was an underwhelming debut for Wheaton, who was out-targeted by Jordan Howard, Tarik Cohen, Benny Cunningham and Zach Miller among others. Wheaton committed an ugly drop on a third-down opportunity in the first quarter, though the miscue was wiped way by a roughing-the-passer penalty called against Pittsburgh. He’ll look to rebound from Sunday’s goose egg Thursday night against the Packers.

Wendell Smallwood rushed 12 times for 71 yards and caught 1-of-2 targets for nine yards in the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Giants.

Smallwood was forced into a bigger role after Darren Sproles (wrist) went out early and capitalized with some explosive between-the-tackles runs. Unfortunately, LeGarrette Blount (12 touches) and Corey Clement (6 touches) both had involvement in what amounted to a three-way timeshare. Smallwood will be a weak flex option when the Eagles visit the Chargers next.

Kendall Wright wasn’t targeted Sunday in the Bears’ Week 3 win over the Steelers.

Mike Glennon completed just one pass to a wide receiver, a nine-yard completion to Deonte Thompson with under six minutes remaining in the fourth quarter. Wright’s nonexistence was baffling to say the least after leading the team with 10 targets a week earlier. He was limited by a shoulder injury at practice during the week, so perhaps it was a conscious effort on the Bears’ part to keep him under wraps. Needless to say, he’ll be difficult to trust Thursday night against the Packers.

Devin Funchess caught 4-of-10 targets for 58 yards in the Panthers' Week 3 loss to the Saints.

Funchess' 10 targets were a new career high, but two of them resulted in Cam Newton interceptions. Funchess was completely blanketed on both picks, with Newton tossing passes that were easily jumped. With Kelvin Benjamin (knee) now joining Greg Olsen on the shelf, Funchess is going to see WR3 volume. Considering his near total lack of production to this point in his career, however, Funchess remains best treated as a WR4.

Charles Clay caught six passes for 39 yards and a touchdown in Week 3 against Denver.

Clay was left wide open on a broken play in the red-zone. He's scored in 2-of-3 games to open the year, but has yet to go over 60 yards. Clay will remain a touchdown-dependent TE1 for Week 4 against the Falcons.

Nelson Agholor caught 2-of-3 targets for 20 yards in the Eagles' Week 3 win over the Giants.

Agholor has been awfully quiet since his big opener. Low in the Eagles' pecking order for targets, Agholor lacks value in 12- and 14-team fantasy leagues.
Sep 24 - 5:36 PM

Taylor Gabriel caught 5-of-6 targets for 79 yards and one touchdown in the Falcons' Week 3 win over the Lions.

Gabriel had quiet Weeks 1 and 2 to open the season, but he did what he does best in this one; scoring a 40-yard touchdown on a WR screen. He flashed his big playmaking ability and speed, but Gabriel's big days are nearly impossible to predict. Gabriel is a WR5/6 next week against the Bills.
