Brandon Crawford went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored in a 5-3 win over the Padres on Saturday.

He knocked in a run with a triple in the fourth inning and was left stranded. He plated two more runs with a double in the sixth. He doubled again and scored in the eighth and also walked in the ballgame. The veteran shortstop is known mostly for his glove but has been quietly raking so far this year. He has a .313 batting average and an .866 OPS with eight homers and 35 RBI while playing half his games in the most pitcher-friendly park in the big leagues.

Jung Ho Kang is back in the lineup for Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday after missing time with wrist inflammation.

Kang hadn't played since Tuesday. He's hit .269/.333/.308 in seven games for the Indians.

Anthony DeSclafani yielded two runs on three hits over 6 1/3 innings while hitting a grand slam in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Cubs.

DeScalfani did fine work in limiting the Cubs over his 6 1/3 innings on the mound (he did walk four), but the real story here is his show with the bat. He came through in unexpected style with the bases loaded and two outs in the third inning, smashing a grand slam to left center off Brian Duensing to boost his team to an 8-1 lead Having helped himself thusly, he would go on to pitch into the seventh inning. He'll bring a 4.09 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 18/8 K/BB ratio (four starts covering 22 innings) into a home date with the White Sox in his next scheduled outing.
Jun 23 - 7:28 PM

Luke Farrell surrendered three runs on two hits over 2 2/3 innings in Saturday's loss to the Reds.

Farrell was making a spot start in this one. It was a mostly forgettable one. Tucker Barnhart burned him for a two-run home run in the first inning to immediately put the Cubbies behind the eight-ball on the scoreboard. He would toss a scoreless second inning and record the first two outs in the third before walking Joey Votto. At which point he was relieved of duty. The third run on line scored after he had left the game. Farrell had worked exclusively as a reliever prior to Saturday's contest and figures to push back to the bullpen with this start in the books. He owns a 4.50 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 20 innings this season.
Jun 23 - 7:26 PM

Sergio Romo tossed a scoreless ninth inning in Saturday's win over the Yankees.

Romo did not pick up a save, here, as the Rays held a 4-0 lead heading to the top of the ninth inning. He kept the score right there, recording three outs without issue. He wrapped up the game with a strikeout of Giancarlo Stanton. With the scoreless inning under his belt, Romo will move forward the owner of a still-oversized 5.10 ERA and 1.43 WHIP in 30 innings. Despite those rocky marks, he's seeing high-leverage work and has some level of slight fantasy value for those scraping about for save opportunities.
Jun 23 - 7:25 PM

Andrew Suarez surrendered just one run in 5 2/3 innings but had to settle for a no-decision as his team beat the Padres on Saturday.

His only big mistake was deposited over the left field wall for a solo home run by outfielder Hunter Renfroe in the fourth inning. Suarez allowed eight hits and one walk while fanning four in the ballgame. He fell one out short of a quality start. His record holds at 2-4 with a 4.43 ERA after 12 starts. He has a nice 61:13 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 65 innings and that indicates good things are in store for the left-hander as the season progresses.

Adrian Beltre went 3-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored on Saturday, leading the Rangers to a 9-6 victory over the Twins.

Beltre crushed a solo homer in the fourth inning, increasing the Rangers' advantage to 9-2. The veteran third baseman is now hitting .314/.365/.456 with four homers and 25 RBI.
Jun 23 - 7:20 PM

Willy Adames went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two total RBI in Saturday's win over the Yankees.

Adames came through with an RBI single off Sonny Gray in the second inning before later cracking him for a solo seventh-inning homer down the right field line which held fair for the shortstop. While he's hitting just .231/.268/.365 in 52 at-bats this season, he's been a thorn in the Yankees' side this weekend, having driven in three total runs while picking up four hits through the first two games of the three-game set.
