White Sox manager Robin Ventura confirmed that Avisail Garcia (knee) won't play in either half of Thursday's doubleheader at Baltimore's Camden Yards.

Garcia hasn't played since leaving Monday's game in Toronto with discomfort in his right knee. It's something that has been bothering him for a couple of weeks, so the White Sox want to give him some extended rest. The 23-year-old is batting .327/.365/.456 with four home runs and 18 RBI in 39 games this season. J.B. Shuck is in right field in the first half Thursday.

Avisail Garcia (knee) is not in the White Sox starting lineup for the first half of Thursday's doubleheader.

He might also sit out the second half. Garcia left Monday's game in Toronto after experiencing renewed discomfort in his right knee and the White Sox opted to keep him off the Rogers Centre turf for the remainder of that series. He remains day-to-day. J.B. Shuck is starting in right field on Thursday afternoon in Baltimore.

Orioles recalled RHP Tyler Wilson from Triple-A Norfolk.

Wilson will start the first half of the Orioles' doubleheader Thursday against the White Sox. The 25-year-old right-hander has posted a decent 3.29 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and 32/7 K/BB ratio in 41 innings this season at the Triple-A level, but he's not the most attractive fantasy streaming option against a good White Sox offense.

Rays activated INF Ryan Brett from the 15-day disabled list; optioned him to Triple-A Durham.

Brett missed over a month with a left shoulder subluxation, and there's no longer a need for him on the Rays' active major league roster. The 23-year-old appeared in just three games for Tampa Bay before getting hurt.

Brandon Phillips (toe) struck out as a pinch-hitter Wednesday in the Reds' loss to the Rockies.

Phillips reaggravated the turf toe in his left foot on Monday, but that he was used as a pinch-hitter Wednesday is a good indication that he is going to avoid the disabled list. The veteran second baseman is slashing .297/.335/.355 with two home runs and 18 RBI in 41 games this year.
May 28 - 9:18 AM

Brock Holt (arm) went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored Wednesday against the Twins.

Holt hadn't played since taking a line drove off his arm on Sunday afternoon. But he only suffered a bruise. The 26-year-old utilityman is batting .305/.383/.442 with 12 runs scored in 31 games this season for the Red Sox.

Collin Cowgill (hand) is headed to the disabled list.

Cowgill has been unable to hit since injuring his right hand during batting practice Sunday. There should be an exact diagnosis at some point Thursday. The 29-year-old outfielder is sporting a rough .180/.231/.295 slash line through 35 games this season for Anaheim.
