CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Dioner Navarro "renewed his interest in a trade this week."

Navarro requested a trade over the winter after the Blue Jays signed Russell Martin and he apparently still desires to be somewhere where he could catch more. He's been the Jays' backup catcher and occasional designated hitter but would probably represent an upgrade as a starting catcher for a handful of clubs.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Jeff Samardzija "is on the list" of the Blue Jays.

Samardzija has already been dealt twice over the last year and the impending free agent is likely to be on the move again with the White Sox out of contention. The right-hander has put up a disappointing 4.56 ERA this season, but his stuff looks to be intact and he would be a welcome upgrade to the Blue Jays' rotation.
Jul 3 - 9:10 AM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the "word for now seems to be that it's unlikely" Cole Hamels would approve a trade to the Astros.

Heyman says that Houston "would love" the southpaw, but "there still is no reason to believe its feeling is reciprocated by Hamels." The left-hander could always change his mind, of course, and it also might wind up being a moot point if another teams offers a better trade package. The Astros certainly appear to be in the market for a big arm this month.
Jul 3 - 9:01 AM

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Astros and Dodgers had two scouts apiece at a recent Johnny Cueto start versus the Mets.

Heyman notes that "some of the scouts might have been there doing regular/advance coverage." However, it's no secret that both the Astros and Dodgers are among the clubs interested in the veteran right-hander. The Blue Jays and Yankees are two other teams known to have interest. Cueto has appeared to put his elbow issue behind him and should fetch a nice return for the Reds later this month.

Eric Hosmer (finger) singled and drew a walk in four plate appearances in his return to the lineup Thursday.

Hosmer had missed the last three games with a minor left ring finger sprain. He should be fine.
Jul 3 - 8:51 AM

A.J. Pollock went 2-for-5 with a homer and two runs scored in Thursday's 8-1 win versus the Rockies.

Pollock hit his 10th homer of the year off Chris Rusin in the sixth inning. The outfielder has been an unsung fantasy stud so far this year. He's batting .301 and is on pace for 21 homers, 74 RBI, 107 runs and 33 steals. That type of production would threaten for a top-five fantasy outfielder finish.
Jul 3 - 1:13 AM

Yasmany Tomas smacked a two-run double in Thursday's win against the Rockies.

The seventh-inning drive off of Scott Oberg plated A.J. Pollock and Paul Goldschmidt and gave the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead in the eventual 8-1 victory. The Tomas investment looked like an early flop, but he's slashing a tasty .318/.359/.441 through 220 at-bats. If the power comes and the average doesn't suffer because of it, he's going to be a fantasy star.
Jul 3 - 1:08 AM

Jeremy Hellickson tossed seven innings of one-run ball and struck out six in Thursday's triumph over the Rockies.

He only allowed three hits and didn't walk a batter. Don't look now, but Hell Boy boasts a 27/2 K/BB rate over his last four starts, bagging quality starts in three of them. At long last he can be trusted in NL-only leagues. He gets the Rangers next time around.
