Steven Matz gave up five runs in 5 2/3 innings Thursday in a loss to the Rockies.

Matz still turned in the best showing for a Mets starter in Colorado. He gave up all five runs in the first two innings before settling down and trying to keep the Mets in the game. He ended up striking out six and walking two.

Todd Frazier went 2-for-4 and hit his eighth homer at Coors Field on Thursday.

Frazier had been hitting just .182/.217/.327 in 55 at-bats since coming off the disabled list earlier this month. He should warm up, but he's a fringy mixed-league option, especially with his teammates performing rather poorly.

Dominic Smith singled and doubled off the bench Thursday against the Rockies.

Smith didn't start against the lefty today, but he did double off southpaw Jake McGee in the ninth today. He's 9-for-29 since his callup, though that does come with a 9/1 K/BB ratio.

Ronald Acuna (knee) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday.

Acuna is finally nearing a return from a sprained ACL he suffered late last month. Considered by many to be the top prospect in baseball, the 20-year-old Venezuelan native has slashed .265/.326/.453 with five homers in 117 at-bats for Atlanta this year. If all goes well in Gwinnett, he could be activated for Monday's series opener against Cincinnati.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Chris Davis will return to the starting lineup Friday against the Braves.

He'll be returning from an eight-game absence. Nothing has gone right for Davis, who has hit a cataclysmic .150 with 86 strikeouts in 207 at-bats this season. Hopefully the extended rest gave Davis some time to clear his head. Regardless, he shouldn't be anywhere near a fantasy lineup right now.
Jun 21 - 5:53 PM

Freddy Peralta will start Tuesday against the Royals.

Peralta had been slated to go Sunday against St. Louis but the Brewers pushed their starters back a day following Wednesday's rainout in Pittsburgh. Peralta impressed in Tuesday's outing, limiting the Bucs to two hits over six shutout frames. Overall, he holds a 2.30 ERA over three big league starts this season.

Angels recalled OF Michael Hermosillo from Triple-A Salt Lake.

The Angels had an open roster spot after optioning Kaleb Cowart to the minors on Wednesday. Hermosillo has three hits with six strikeouts over 21 big league at-bats this year (.143 AVG).

Brian Duensing is expected to be activated from the bereavement list on Friday.

Duensing has been away from the team since his grandfather's passing last week. The left-hander will return to a 4.50 ERA with three holds over 31 relief outings.
