Taijuan Walker yielded five earned runs over 4 1/3 innings Sunday in a loss to the Twins.

It looked like a great matchup on paper for Walker -- a home start versus the light-hitting Twins -- but Robbie Grossman, Joe Mauer, and Miguel Sano all homered against the young right-hander as he fell to 2-5 on the year. Walker does still have a shiny 3.31 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 50/11 K/BB ratio in 54 1/3 innings, and he should be a safe start next time out in Arlington, Texas.

Sean Doolittle notched his third save of the season Sunday in the A's 4-2 win over the Tigers.

Doolittle needed just eight pitches in a perfect ninth, retiring Nick Castellanos, Justin Upton, and Cameron Maybin in order. Athletics closer Ryan Madson worked the eighth inning Sunday against J.D. Martinez, Miguel Cabrera, and Victor Martinez, also retiring three batters in order for a perfect frame.
May 29 - 7:08 PM

Mike Pelfrey allowed three (unearned) runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday as the Tigers fell to the A's.

Pelfrey was cruising until the bottom of the sixth, when Yonder Alonso reached on an Ian Kinsler fielding error and plated Danny Valencia. Billy Butler would then crank a two-run single to right. Pelfrey now stands 0-5 with a 4.96 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 52 2/3 innings (10 starts) this season. He should not be rostered in a standard mixed fantasy league.
May 29 - 7:03 PM

Archie Bradley pitched into the eighth inning Sunday in the Diamondbacks' 6-3 defeat of the Padres.

Bradley gave up a run in the top of the second on a Christian Bethancourt RBI single, a run in the top of the top of the fifth on an Alexei Ramirez homer, and one more in the top of the eighth on a Wil Myers groundout. But he yielded only four total hits and one walk over 7 1/3 official frames while striking out nine. The former top prospect has been terrific this season at Triple-A Reno and might finally be ready to translate his strong minor league numbers to the major league level. There is legit fantasy upside here.
May 29 - 6:59 PM

Drew Pomeranz surrendered six earned runs over five innings Sunday in a loss to the Diamondbacks.

It was the worst start of the season for Pomeranz, who entered the outing with a 1.70 ERA and left it with his ERA at 2.48. He struck out nine, but the Diamondbacks smacked five hits against him and drew four walks. Pomeranz will try to get back on the right track next time out against the Rockies.
May 29 - 6:56 PM

Lorenzo Cain went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Sunday's win over the White Sox.

Cain opened the contest with an RBI double off Chris Sale in the first inning. He wouldn't strike again until the eighth. Entering that frame, the Royals trailed by a score of 4-2. Cain cut the lead to one with a solo homer off Nate Jones. His squad would ultimately score three runs in the inning to take the lead. The 30-year-old outfielder has notched multiple hits in six of his last 10 games and is slashing .292/.343/.443 with seven homers, 28 RBI and six steals across 185 at-bats.
May 29 - 6:37 PM

Adam Eaton went 3-for-4 in Sunday's loss to the Royals.

In his lone at-bat which did not result in a hit, Eaton drove in a run via a ground out. Through his first 198 at-bats this season, the 27-year-old outfielder owns a .288/.366/.409 triple-slash with seven doubles, four triples, three homers, 15 RBI and five steals. The power hasn't been there much to this point, but Eaton is chipping in nicely in terms of average and speed production.
May 29 - 6:30 PM

Edinson Volquez tossed a quality start in Sunday's no-decision against the White Sox, yielding three runs on seven hits over six innings.

Volquez struck out five and walked one on the afternoon. While the White Sox weren't teeing off on him by any stretch of the imagination, they managed to scrape out a run in the second inning and two more in the fifth. Volquez showcases erratic tendencies at times -- his 1.38 WHIP shows that well enough -- but holds a perfectly respectable 3.74 ERA through 67 1/3 innings. A road date with the Indians shows next on his schedule.
