Ryan Flaherty went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base against the Mets on Friday.

His double plated Dansby Swanson in the fourth inning. Flaherty was also caught stealing but that doesn't matter too much in most fantasy leagues. The veteran infielder has never been very good with the bat until this year. He is now slashing .362/.464/.500 with one homer and eight RBI in 69 plate appearances. Ride him while he's hot but don't expect it to last.

Ozzie Albies smacked his sixth homer of the year in Friday's 12-inning loss to the Mets.

It wasn't a cheapie either as it came off ace starter Noah Syndergaard in the first inning. It was his only hit of the game. The small second baseman isn't noted for his power but he has already matched his total of homers from last year. He has a .313 batting average with 12 RBI and 20 runs scored through 19 games. The 21-year-old is developing into a premium fantasy asset already.

Sean Newcomb surrendered three runs -- two earned -- in six innings and didn't earn a decision against the Mets on Friday.

He struck out five, walked three and allowed six hits in the quality start. He was lifted after tossing 105 pitches in the contest and will need to be more efficient if he wants to rack up wins. His record holds at 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA. He has 27 strikeouts and 11 walks in 21 2/3 innings spread over four starts.

Denard Span went 2-for-5 with three RBI, a run scored and a stolen base in Friday's 8-7 extra-inning win over the Twins.

The veteran outfielder made something happen at every opportunity. He drove in two runs with a double to right field in the fifth inning. He delivered an RBI-single in his next at-bat as well. He came to the plate again in the bottom of the tenth inning with two runners aboard and provided the key play of the ballgame. He hit a grounder to first baseman Joe Mauer, who flipped the ball to pitcher Zach Duke who then missed the base and allowed the runner to score and end the game.

Orlando Arcia was removed from Friday's game against the Marlins with an apparent ankle injury.

Arcia appeared to roll his ankle while trying to get back to first base after his single in the eighth inning. He had to be helped off of the field. Arcia will presumably head for imaging to see if there's any structural damage, expect an update from the team either late Friday or early Saturday.

Chris Archer held the Twins to two runs in 6 2/3 innings on Friday but did not factor into the decision.

It was his first good start of the season and he deserved to win the ballgame. Unfortunately the Rays' bullpen conspired to blow a big league and deprive him of the win, although the team did pull out the victory in extra innings. Archer fanned five, walked one and surrendered four knocks -- including a solo homer by Logan Morrison. His record holds at 1-1 and he lowered his ERA to 6.59 after five starts.
Apr 20 - 11:40 PM

Logan Morrison went 1-for-4 and hit his first home run as a Twin on Friday against the Rays.

He smacked a solo dong off starter Chris Archer in the second inning. Morrison has been comically bad so far this year, so maybe this is the start of a climb back to respectability. He has a .083 batting average with one homer and three RBI almost a month into the season. He hit .246 with 38 home runs and 85 RBI last year with the Rays and struggled to find a job in the offseason.
Apr 20 - 11:36 PM

Eddie Rosario belted a grand slam but it wasn't enough as his team lost to the Rays on Friday.

His clutch blast off reliever Sergio Romo tied the game at 6-6 in the seventh inning. It was his only hit of the day in four at-bats. The left fielder and clean-up hitter has a .226 batting average with two homers and nine RBI on the season.
