Braves purchased the contract of LHP Eric O'Flaherty from Triple-A Gwinnett.

O'Flaherty has won a spot on the Braves' 40-man roster. A non-roster invitee this spring, the 32-year-old has posted a strong 1.69 ERA and 14/3 K/BB ratio over 10 2/3 innings during Grapefruit League action. It's been a rough couple of years for him, but he's feeling good after his elbow surgery last August. He'll function as a lefty specialist in his return to Atlanta's bullpen.

Braves purchased the contract of INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Bonifacio is now officially on the Braves' 40-man roster. The 31-year-old hasn't done much in the majors over the past couple of seasons, but checks some boxes for the Braves as a switch-hitter with speed who has experience between the infield and the outfield.
Mar 28 - 9:40 AM

Braves released LHP Paco Rodriguez.

Rodriguez, who missed the entire 2016 season following Tommy John surgery, allowed one run over four innings this spring. The release is a bit of a surprise. The 25-year-old owns a 2.53 ERA and 91/30 K/BB ratio over 85 1/3 innings in the majors, so he shouldn't be out of a job for long.

Braves optioned RHP Matt Wisler to Triple-A Gwinnett; reassigned RHP Joel De La Cruz to minor league camp.

Wisler has been a prominent part of the Braves' rotation over the past two seasons while putting up a 4.88 ERA, but there's no room for him right now. He'd likely be one of the first pitchers called up if there's an injury.

Juan Lagares (oblique) said Tuesday morning that he's still waiting on the results of his MRI.

Lagares left Saturday's Grapefruit League game with a left oblique strain and was sent for an MRI on Monday. It would be a surprise if he didn't start the season on the disabled list.
Mar 28 - 9:14 AM

Emilio Bonifacio has made the Braves' Opening Day roster.

Bonifacio, a non-roster player, batted .260/.315/.360 with one homer and three steals over 20 games this spring. He'll bring some speed and versatility to the Braves' bench.

Jeurys Familia is back in Mets' camp on Tuesday.

Familia reportedly traveled to New York on Monday to meet with MLB commissioner Rob Manfred regarding his domestic violence case. The expectation is that he will face a suspension, but Billy Witz of the New York Times reported Monday that it is "almost certain" to be fewer than the 30 games Aroldis Chapman received. An announcement is considered imminent. No matter the length of the suspension, Addison Reed is expected to fill in as closer for New York.

Nick Franklin was scratched from Tuesday's Grapefruit League lineup due to illness.

Franklin should be fine in the next day or two. The 26-year-old is expected to begin the season in a utility role.
