Pirates recalled INF/OF Steve Lombardozzi from Triple-A Indianapolis.
Lombarddozzi was off to a .379/.460/.483 start at the plate at Indy. He's operate in a utility role.
Pirates placed OF Andrew Lambo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 4, with plantar fasciitis in his left foot.
It's unclear how long Lambo has been dealing with the ailment or how long he'll be sidelined. Steve Lombardozzi has replaced him on the roster.
Zack Cozart (wrist) remained out of the Reds' lineup Wednesday.
Cozart still has some soreness in his left wrist as a result of a hit by pitch Sunday. Kristopher Negron is filling in at shortstop.
Justin Verlander (triceps) has been cleared to resume a throwing program.
It confirms what Verlander essentially reported himself earlier Wednesday. The veteran right-hander has been slow to get over the hump while battling a right triceps strain, but the third MRI he took Tuesday apparently showed sufficient healing. The Tigers didn't reveal details about Verlander's throwing program, but he'll be built back up slowly and won't return until next month.
Casey McGehee is not in the Giants' lineup Wednesday.
It's the second straight day off for the struggling third baseman. Matt Duffy is at the hot corner Wednesday in McGehee's place.
Buster Posey is not in the Giants' lineup Wednesday.
He's just getting some rest with it being a day game after a night game. Andrew Susac is catching Chris Heston.
Angel Pagan (finger) is back in the Giants' lineup Wednesday.
Pagan suffered a laceration on his left middle finger when he slid into second base on Monday, but he's back in there after one day of rest. The outfielder sports a nifty .350/.373/.447 batting line this season.
Rockies recalled LHP Chris Rusin from Triple-A Albuquerque.
He'll serve as the 26th man during Wednesday's doubleheader. Rusin has posted a 6.23 ERA over four starts at Albuquerque this season.
