Coach Bruce Arians confirmed Tuesday that rookie David Johnson is "the lead guy now" with Chris Johnson (fractured tibia) out at least eight weeks.
CJ2K was placed on I.R.-designated for return on Tuesday, and Andre Ellington is battling a case of turf toe. Appearing on his weekly Tuesday night segment with Sirius XM NFL radio, Arians "sounded optimistic" that Ellington will be able to play Week 13 against the Rams, but that's hard to believe. The Rams' defense has been worn down in recent weeks due to the offense not staying on the field. This isn't a scary matchup for Johnson, who could threaten for 20 touches. The Cardinals signed RB Kerwynn Williams off the practice squad.
Seahawks waived C Drew Nowak.
Nowak started seven of the Seahawks' first eight games at the pivot, but was benched after the Week 9 bye. He obviously struggled mightily before heading to the pine. Patrick Lewis has taken over, but hasn't been much of an upgrade.
The 3-8 Cowboys are holding off on placing Tony Romo (collarbone) on injured reserve in case they make a run at the NFC East title.
It's extremely unlikely, but the Cowboys apparently plan to indulge themselves for at least Week 13. A loss to Washington on Monday night would end the fantasy. There's no guarantee Romo would even be ready for the postseason.
Bills signed DE LaVar Edwards.
Edwards was plucked off the Cowboys' practice squad. He provides insurance with Mario Williams ailing.
Seahawks signed TE Chase Coffman.
C Drew Nowak was waived in a corresponding roster move. Coffman will provide depth behind Luke Willson and Cooper Helfet with Jimmy Graham (knee) done for the season. Coffman caught 10 passes in 14 games for the Titans over the past two seasons.
Patriots placed DE Trey Flowers on injured reserve, ending his season.
A fourth-round rookie, Flowers was active for just one of 11 games. His injury is undisclosed, but it's unlikely to be a concern for 2016. Flowers' day-two draft status will give him a leg up on a 2016 roster spot, but it will be far from guaranteed.
Patriots claimed RB Trey Williams off waivers from the Cowboys.
The Pats are extremely thin behind LeGarrette Blount, but Williams is unlikely to be active in Week 13. He'll be a distant No. 4 behind Blount, Brandon Bolden and James White.
Free agent TEs Rob Housler and Nick Kasa worked out for the Bears on Tuesday.
Martellus Bennett (ribs) participated in Monday's practice, but this is an indication his Week 13 status remains up in the air. Housler was released off the Browns' injured reserve two weeks ago.
