MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports that Alex Rios received offers, but has been seeking a "significant role" with a team.

The Royals declined their part of Rios' $12.5 million club option for 2016 after he batted just .255 with four home runs and a .640 OPS over 105 games last season. Not surprisingly, the 35-year-old didn't receive much interest for a prominent role over the winter. At this point, retirement could be the next step.

Kris Bryant will undergo a precautionary MRI on his right ankle.

Bryant suffered a mild sprain of his right ankle while running the bases in the third inning on Thursday. The Cubs appear confident that it's nothing serious, but there should be more clarity on his status soon.

Justin Turner is not in the Dodgers' lineup Thursday against the Marlins.

He'll get a breather with Marlins ace Jose Fernandez on the hill. Howie Kendrick will start at third base while Carl Crawford plays left field.
Apr 28 - 5:51 PM

Angels placed RHP Huston Street on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 24, with a left oblique strain.

Street felt some discomfort while making warmup throws on Wednesday and will require an extended absence. The Angels will make a corresponding roster move on Friday. Joe Smith is expected to fill in at closer and should be picked up in all fantasy leagues.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said Thursday that David Robertson is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday.

Robertson was placed on the bereavement list. Ventura named Nate Jones, Matt Albers, and Zach Duke as closer options depending on the situation.
Apr 28 - 5:38 PM

Marcell Ozuna is not in Thursday's lineup against the Dodgers.

He'll take a seat against right-hander Kenta Maeda. Ichiro Suzuki will make the start in center field and bat sixth. That should be a fun matchup.
Apr 28 - 5:33 PM

Athletics manager Bob Melvin said the club might want to get Chris Bassitt "checked out" due to a drop in velocity.

According to Brooks Baseball, Bassitt was sitting around 92 mph with his fastball on Thursday against the Tigers while giving up seven runs on 10 walks over 3 2/3 innings. That's a couple ticks down from where he was when the season began. For what it's worth, Bassitt claims that he's fine physically.
Apr 28 - 5:06 PM

Welington Castillo is out of Thursday's starting lineup against the Cardinals.

He's presumably getting a breather. Chris Herrmann will start behind the dish and catch Rubby De La Rosa.
