Saints released/waived K Shayne Graham and K Derek Dimke.
The moves leave the Saints without a kicker on the roster. They will look to the waiver wire for a veteran option. Graham went 6-for-8 for the Saints last season after replacing the struggling Garrett Hartley.
Titans placed DT Antonio Johnson on injured reserve with a knee injury, ending his season.
Johnson was recovering from a knee scope, but evidently not quickly enough. Going on 30, he could eventually be cut loose with an injury settlement.
Rams waived DE Michael Sam.
Sam's bid to become the NFL's first openly gay player to appear in a regular season game hits a speedbump. The 2013 co-SEC Defensive Player of the Year was productive during the preseason, earning a slightly positive grade from PFF while compiling two sacks, two QB hits and four QB hurries on 133 snaps. But he was always a bubble prospect due to unimpressive athleticism and no role on special teams. The Rams will likely try to get Sam onto their practice squad, but he'd do better to head to a team with less depth and talent on their defensive line.
Bills released G/C Doug Legursky.
Buffalo will keep Kraig Urbik despite his $3.45 million cap hit. A five-year veteran, Legursky started 11 games for the Bills last season and should be able to find reserve work.
Saints released WR Robert Meachem.
Meachem was hoping to hang on as a situational deep threat. One month shy of his 30th birthday, he should latch on elsewhere after reviving his career in New Orleans last season.
Chargers waived/released OT Mike Harris, LB Victor Aiyewa, DT Chas Alecxih, WR Torrence Allen, S Alden Darby, CB Greg Ducre, WR Javontee Herndon, LB Thomas Keiser, LB Cordarro Law, S Adrian Phillips, OT Jeremiah Sirles, LB Colton Underwood, OG Craig Watts, OT Kenny Wiggins and C Khalil Wilkes.
Willie Smith has earned swing-tackle duties. A 2012 undrafted free agent, Harris was thrust into blindside duties as a rookie after Jared Gaither fell apart, but was limited to 194 snaps a season ago. He has 12 games of starting experience, which should earn him a second chance soon enough.
Cowboys DE Anthony Spencer was removed from the active/PUP list.
Spencer will not be ready Week 1, but he is expected back in the first month of the season. Almost 31 and coming off microfracture surgery, it is not a sure thing Spencer is effective once he gets back on the field. The Cowboys should view anything they get from Spencer this season as a bonus.
Giants waived RB Michael Cox.
Cox got more opportunities than he deserved last season thanks to all the injuries in the Giants' backfield. He ended up with 22 carries for 43 yards and no touchdowns. The Giants have decided to keep Peyton Hillis as their No. 3 running back behind Rashad Jennings and Andre Williams.
