Daniel Murphy went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs on Sunday, propelling the Nationals to a 4-1 victory over the Padres in San Diego.

Murphy got the Nationals on the board with a sacrifice fly in the third inning and then slashed a go-ahead run-scoring single into right field in the fifth. He continues to produce at an elite level, slashing .325/.381/.561 with 20 homers and 81 RBI.

Wilmer Difo went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles as the Nationals topped the Padres on Sunday afternoon.

Difo has done an admirable job filling in for the injured Trea Turner, slashing .279/.340/.385 with four homers, 16 RBI and six stolen bases in 254 plate appearances. His days of fantasy relevancy could be coming to an end soon though with Turner beginning a minor league rehab assignment on Monday.

Sean Doolittle struck out all three batters that he faced in the ninth inning on Sunday, protecting a three-run lead to earn his 14th save of the season.

The 30-year-old southpaw has been terrific since joining the Nationals, adding stability at the back end of the bullpen. He owns a 2.97 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 47/7 K/BB ratio over 36 1/3 innings on the season.
Aug 20 - 8:20 PM

Gio Gonzalez was dominant in Sunday's victory over the Padres, racking up eight strikeouts while allowing just one unearned run over 6 2/3 innings.

Gonzalez scattered five hits and a walk on the day. The 31-year-old southpaw has been outstanding this season, and has now logged quality starts in 14 of his last 15 outings. He's now 12-5 on the year with a sparkling 2.39 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 150/62 K/BB ratio in 162 innings. He'll look to keep on rolling when he takes on the Mets at home on Saturday.
Aug 20 - 8:12 PM

Wil Myers swiped his 15th base of the season in Sunday's loss to the Nationals.

He finished the day 0-for-4 at the plate, but reached on an error and stole second base in the first inning. Myers has been a bit of a disappointment this season, slashing .237/.323/.456 with 24 homers and 59 RBI.
Aug 20 - 8:12 PM

Dinelson Lamet struggled in a losing effort against the Nationals on Sunday, allowing three runs on three hits over 4 2/3 innings.

While the hits didn't do him in, Lamet also issued six free passes on the afternoon. On the plus side, he combated those by striking out eight. While he has been remarkably inconsistent this season, Lamet has shown flashes of brilliance. He'll carry a 4.84 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 100/35 K/BB ratio into Saturday's matchup against the Marlins in Miami.

Ryan Hanigan said after Sunday's game that he's "a little banged uo" with a slight groin strain.

It doesn't sound like it's serious enough to force him to the disabled list, but is something worth monitoring. The veteran backstop is hitting .255/.317/.340 with two homers and 12 RBI in 105 plate appearances on the season.
Aug 20 - 7:57 PM

Pedro Florimon went 2-for-3 with three RBI on Sunday, leading the Phillies to a come-from-behind 5-2 victory over the Giants.

Florimon got the Phillies on the board with an RBI double off of Madison Bumgarner in the second inning. He then delivered a go-ahead two-run single in the eighth that proved to be the difference in the game. Florimon also made several sparkling defensive plays in left field. The 30-year-old journeyman is 3-for-6 with a pair of walks and four RBI in his first eight plate appearances with the Phillies.
