Dodgers pitching prospect Zach Lee threw six shutout innings Wednesday, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out three for Triple-A Albuquerque.

Lee has been solid in Triple-A in 2014, putting up a 1.62 ERA across 16 2/3 innings while allowing 10 hits and four walks. The fact that he has only nine strikeouts (4.9 K/9) for the season is troubling, but his BB/9 is in line with his career, so he may just be inducing weak contact. Lee is not yet on the 40-man roster, so he may not be the first pitcher called up if an extra start is needed, but he's looking like a strong long-term option.

Phillies signed OF Adam Loewen to a minor league contract.

Loewen converted from pitcher to outfielder and showed some promise last year in the Blue Jays' minor league system. He was the No. 4 overall pick in 2002.

Mets outfield prospect Cesar Puello is hitting .261/.306/.304 through 14 games for Triple-A Las Vegas.

Puello was hitting .326/.403/.547 with 21 doubles and 16 homers in 91 games last year at Double-A Binghamton when his season ended due to a PED suspension, so his poor slash line in a great ballpark for hitters (Las Vegas) is troubling. He only has two extra-base hits, both doubles. The extended layoff could be causing his slow return to form.

Coco Crisp drew a walk and stole a base as a pinch-hitter Wednesday night against the Angels.

Crisp was out of the starting lineup for a third straight game because of lingering tightness in his hamstring. The A's are off Thursday, so he should be ready to return to his starting center field role on Friday.

Everth Cabrera (knee) went 1-for-4 with a run scored in the Padres' win over the Rockies on Wednesday.

Cabrera was a late scratch from Tuesday's game with a sore right knee. It was never a major concern. The speedy shortstop is batting .333 with two stolen bases.
Apr 17 - 8:44 AM

Lorenzo Cain left Wednesday night's game against the Astros with a Grade 1 groin strain.

That's the least severe type of strain, but Cain could still be looking at an extended absence. The 28-year-old outfielder was off to a decent start this season, boasting a .333 batting average and two steals in 12 games. Jarrod Dyson figures to get a boost in playing time and may be worth an add in fantasy leagues for his speed.
Apr 17 - 8:38 AM

Curtis Granderson (ribs) was retired on a groundout in a pinch-hitting appearance on Wednesday.

Granderson is still dealing with minor aches and bruising in his rib cage, forearm, and knee from a collision with the outfield wall at Arizona's Chase Field on Monday. He is expected to return to the starting lineup Saturday.
Apr 17 - 5:17 AM

Chris Iannetta belted a walk-off 12th inning solo homer to propel the Angels to a 5-4 victory over the A's.

Iannetta's shot to dead center off Drew Pomeranz was nearly pulled back into the yard by Craig Gentry, but the ball grazed off the top of his glove at the apex of his leap. Iannetta finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Hits have been hard to come by, but Ianetta's offensive value has been salvaged some by six walks and five extra-base hits (against two singles). He's slashing .184/.304/.421 through 38 at-bats.
