Kenley Jansen blew his first save of the season when he surrendered a three-run, game-tying home run to Matt Adams in the ninth inning of Sunday's 5-4, 10-inning win over the Braves.

Jansen was struggling by degrees even before Adams socked the game-tying home run with two outs, having allowed singles to Freddie Freeman and Matt Kemp to initially put the Dodgers' 4-1 lead in jeopardy. Blown save aside, Jansen has been brilliant overall. He owns a 1.49 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 62/2 K/BB ratio for the season as a whole and is now 24-of-25 in save chances.

Matt Adams clocked a game-tying three-run home run off Kenley Jansen in the ninth inning of Sunday's 10-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Adams stepped to the plate with two out and two on against Kenley Jansen, then did the unthinkable by socking a three-run home run to tie the game at 4-4. The Braves would go on to lose in 10 innings. For the season as a whole, Adams is hitting .288/.333/.560 with 16 homers and 47 RBI in 84 games between the Cardinals and Braves.

Brandon Phillips (hamstring) went 1-for-5 with an RBI double in Sunday's 10-inning loss to the Dodgers.

Phillips, who had sat out the previous two contest due to a hamstring strain, notched an RBI double off Ross Stripling in the third inning. The veteran second baseman is hitting .292/.336/.446 with eight homers, 36 RBI and seven steals across 332 at-bats. With his two-bagger on Sunday, Phillips bumped an ongoing hitting streak up to seven games.

Coming on to replace an injured Clayton Kershaw (back), Ross Stripling tossed three innings of one-run ball in Sunday's 10-inning win over the Braves.

Kershaw managed just two innings before a tight back forced him out of action. Enter Stripling, who struck out two, walked two and allowed two hits (including an RBI double to Brandon Phillips) over his three innings of work. He owns a 3.55 ERA and 1.31 WHIP in 27 appearances this season.
Jul 23 - 8:07 PM

Sean Newcomb struck out nine but also walked five while surrendering three runs over six innings in Sunday's 10-inning loss to the Dodgers.

All three runs on Newcomb's line came home when he allowed a three-run homer to Austin Barnes in the fourth inning. The rookie southpaw struggled with his efficiency throughout, throwing just 65 of 104 pitches for strikes. In eight starts this season, Newcomb is pitching to a 4.81 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 44/22 K/BB ratio. He has been fighting himself on the control front even beyond Sunday's shaky outing, having now walked at least three in each of his last three outings.
Jul 23 - 8:03 PM

Didi Gregorius went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs and a walk in Sunday's 6-4 win over the Mariners.

Gregorius cracked solo dingers off Yovani Gallardo in the second and fourth innings. Both were short shorts down the extreme right field line and neither went longer than 360 feet, but they counted all the same. The shortstop is slashing .304/.335/.495 with 14 homers and 44 RBI overall. He has turned himself into an incredibly consistent hitter since joining the Yankees.
Jul 23 - 7:55 PM

Brett Gardner went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two total RBI in Sunday's win over the Mariners.

Gardner led off the game with a solo home run off Yovani Gallardo and would later come through with an opposite-field RBI single in the sixth inning. That latter hit tied the game at 4-4, which Clint Frazier followed up with a two-run go-ahead double. Gardner has now matched his career-best for homers in a season with 17 long balls. On the micro level, he is currently working on a six-game hitting streak.
Jul 23 - 7:52 PM

Guillermo Heredia went 1-for-3 with a two-run double in Sunday's loss to the Yankees.

Heredia struck for a two-run double off Caleb Smith in the fourth inning, his sixth double of the season. Overall, the outfielder is hitting an uneventful .266/.329/.356 with five homers, 15 RBI in 74 games played.
