Red Sox optioned RHP Jonathan Aro to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Aro was with the club for just two days to provide bullpen depth. He'll continue to bide his time at Triple-A until a full-time opening arises in the Red Sox bullpen.
Red Sox recalled INF Travis Shaw from Triple-A Pawtucket.
He's in the Red Sox lineup at third base for Saturday afternoon's contest against the Rays. He has appeared in nine games for the Red Sox this season, going 3-for-15 (.200) with no extra-base hits.
Mike Moustakas is not in the Royals starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Blue Jays.
Ned Yost will use the matchup against opposing southpaw Mark Buehrle to give his third baseman a day of rest. Cheslor Cuthbert will start in his place at the hot corner and bat eighth for the Royals on Saturday.
Rockies placed OF Corey Dickerson on the 15-day disabled list with non-displaced fractures of two ribs.
An MRI exam revealed Friday that Dickerson had sustained non-displaced fractures of two ribs on his right side while diving for a line drive during Thursday's contest against the Cardinals. It's the third time that the outfielder has been forced to the disabled list this season. There is no clear timetable for his return at the moment.
Blue Jays designated INF/OF Danny Valencia for assignment.
With all of the recent acquisitions that the Blue Jays have made, they were forced to make a few tough decisions on their roster and it appears that Valencia is the odd-man out. The lefty-masher was hitting .296/.331/.506 overall with seven homers and 29 RBI in 162 at-bats. He should attract interest from plenty of teams looking to upgrade their bench.
Blue Jays designated OF Ezequiel Carrera for assignment.
The 28-year-old outfielder had done a nice job in limited time for the Jays, hitting .279/.327/.374 with three homers and 21 RBI in 70 games. He could attract some interest on waivers.
Blue Jays optioned RHP Ryan Tepera to Triple-A Buffalo.
The 27-year-old hurler has been outstanding in 21 appearances with the Jays this season, registering a 2.28 ERA, 0.80 WHIP and 16/4 K/BB ratio over 23 2/3 innings. He'll assuredly get another opportunity the next time the Jays need a fresh arm.
Blue Jays recalled INF Munenori Kawasaki from Triple-A Buffalo.
The 34-year-old infielder and fan favorite is hitting just .200/.294/.333 in 15 at-bats with the Blue Jays this season. He'll provide infield depth and flexibility while Devon Travis is on the disabled list.
