Marlins optioned INF Donovan Solano to Triple-A New Orleans.

Solano has managed just a .156/.194/.219 batting line over 46 games this season. The Marlins have elected to keep Miguel Rojas around as a utility infielder over him.

A.J. Burnett is expected to be sidelined for four weeks after being diagnosed with a right flexor strain.

Burnett has been given a platelet-rich plasma injection in hopes that it will speed along the recovery process. It has to be considered good news overall, as it appears Burnett's ligament is intact. However, he's far from out of the woods yet, and even if he makes it back he's not a great bet to stay healthy. The Pirates acquired J.A. Happ last week to bolster their rotation.

An MRI on Carter Capps' right elbow showed no major damage and he's expected to resume throwing in 3-4 days.

Capps was placed on the disabled list Monday with a strained pitching elbow, but the Marlins think he'll be ready to return when his 15 days are up. It wouldn't be a surprise if it ultimately takes a bit longer than that, but obviously this is good news. Capps has been an elite reliever this season, posting a 1.16 ERA and 58/7 K/BB ratio over 31 innings.

Steven Matz (lat) threw on flat ground Monday.

It's the first time he's done any throwing since he was diagnosed with a partially torn left lat muscle nearly four weeks ago. Obviously, the Mets will proceed cautiously with Matz, building him back up slowly. There's no timetable for his return, but Monday was a nice step.

Josh Donaldson went 2-for-4 with a home run Monday in the Blue Jays' victory over the Twins.

Donaldson doubled in the bottom of the first inning and and then cranked a two-run shot off Twins starter Ervin Santana in the bottom of the fifth. The 29-year-old third baseman is sporting a tremendous .916 OPS with 27 home runs and 77 RBI in 105 games this season for the Blue Jays, who are now tied with Minnesota for the second American League Wild Card spot.

Torii Hunter slugged a solo home run Monday in the Twins' afternoon loss to the Blue Jays.

It was the only run Minnesota scored against David Price in his Blue Jays debut at Rogers Centre in Toronto. Hunter has 17 home runs and 56 RBI in 94 games this season, though that has come with a .249 average and .303 OBP.

Ervin Santana gave up three earned runs in six innings Monday in a loss to the Blue Jays.

Santana allowed six hits and three walks in the tough afternoon outing at Rogers Centre. He had been fairly sharp in his first four outings since returning from an 80-game PED suspension, but his last two turns in the Twins' rotation have not gone well. The 32-year-old right-hander now stands 2-2 with a 3.89 ERA.

Reds 1B prospect Adam Duvall homered in his first game for Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.

Duvall now has 27 round-trippers in 408 at-bats this year. There's no denying his immense power, but unfortunately Duvall is in the same position he was in San Francisco. With the Giants, he was blocked at first base by Brandon Belt. Now in Cincinnati, the same is true with Joey Votto. Duvall's best chance to crack the majors might be as a corner outfielder, though it's unclear if he can make that transition.
