Rays LHP/1B prospect Brendan McKay hurled six innings of shutout baseball on Thursday for High-A Charlotte.

McKay was promoted to High-A not long ago because the Rays wanted to challenge McKay. So far, it's not working. The challenge part, we mean. His stuff is too advanced -- as is his command of that arsenal -- to not be at the higher levels. Oh, and he has a .434 on-base percentage at the plate, although he isn't hitting for power as seen in his .318 slugging percentage. McKay still offers plenty of offensive upside, though, and he could become a two-way star.

DJ Eberle of the Times Leader reports that Greg Bird (ankle) is no longer with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

It basically confirms that Bird will be activated by the Yankees this weekend as manager Aaron Boone indicated earlier this week could happen. The skipper had said Bird could return Saturday or Sunday. Bird has been out all season following March ankle surgery but is now poised to see most of the at-bats at first base for the Bombers.

Major League Baseball has extended the administrative leave for Roberto Osuna for another week through June 4.

It's the third time his leave has been extended as MLB continues to investigate Osuna's arrest for assault. He's due to appear in court on June 18 and a lengthy suspension is likely coming sometime after that.

Blue Jays 3B prospect Vladimir Guerrero Jr. went 2-for-4 with a homer on Thursday for Double-A New Hampshire.

The homer now gives him nine on the season, and his two hits bump his average up to a remarkable .427 on the 2018 campaign. He's walking (18) more often than striking out (17), has 27 extra-base hits, and is the best offensive prospect in baseball by a considerable measure.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Friday that Mac Williamson will be the team's everyday left fielder.

Williamson returned from the 7-day concussion disabled list Friday. The 27-year-old changed his swing over the offseason and hit three homers over five games with the Giants after mashing at Triple-A Sacramento. Hunter Pence's (thumb) impending return could complicate things, but Williamson is worth a gamble in deep leagues while he's playing regularly.

Yankees signed C Wilkin Castillo to a minor league contract.

Castillo was in the minors with the Yanks last season but had been playing this year with the independent league Long Island Ducks. He'll provide depth behind the plate.

Yankees released 1B Adam Lind.

Lind opted out of his minor league deal with the Yanks in March before re-signing last month. He's now on the market again after batting .302/.362/.477 with three homers over 24 games for them in the minors. Lind should catch on elsewhere quickly.

Brewers recalled RHP Adrian Houser from Double-A Biloxi.

Houser tossed two scoreless innings in his major league debut last month. He'll give the Brewers some length in the bullpen.
