Wei-Yin Chen got a platelet-rich plasma injection Tuesday for his injured left elbow.

PRP treatment is supposed to help the healing process. Chen was placed on the disabled list May 5 with discomfort in his left elbow and he felt renewed tightness when he tried to throw a bullpen session 10 days later. Surgery has been ruled out for now, but there is no real timetable for the southpaw's return to the active major league roster in Miami.

Braves released C/1B Blake Lalli.

Lalli was batting just .167/.226/.271 in 53 plate appearances this season at the Triple-A level. This might be the end of the road for the 34-year-old catcher and first baseman.

Braves sent C Anthony Recker outright to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Recker was designated for assignment by Atlanta on Sunday to clear a 40-man roster spot following the Matt Adams trade. The 33-year-old catcher is a .199/.283/.348 career hitter at the major league level.

Blue Jays sent C Michael Ohlman outright to Triple-A Buffalo.

Ohlman accepted the assignment after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 26-year-old catcher was designated for assignment by Toronto on Saturday.

Paulo Orlando will be out for the next six weeks at Triple-A Omaha after suffering a fractured shin.

Orlando fouled a ball off the shin on May 12 and new tests showed a fracture after the initial swelling subsided. The 31-year-old outfielder is batting just .254/.314/.381 this season at the Triple-A level.

Royals manager Ned Yost said Tuesday that it remains unlikely Nate Karns (elbow) will make his next scheduled start.

Karns was pulled after throwing five innings of one-run ball last Friday against the Twins due to fluid buildup in his right elbow. He hasn't been placed on the disabled list, but Miguel Almonte is expected to pitch in his place Thursday against the Yankees. There should be something more official soon.
May 23 - 7:50 PM

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Chris Taylor could soon see starts in the outfield.

Logan Forsythe (toe) just returned from the disabled list, crowding the situations at second and third base. Roberts wants to continue finding regular starts for Taylor, who's slashing .333/.446/.583 with five home runs and 16 RBI in 29 games.

Chris Bassitt has begun experiencing arm fatigue in his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Bassitt will get a few extra days off before his next minor league rehab start, and the A's are hoping that will do the trick. The right-hander was lit up for seven earned runs over 4 2/3 innings in his last appearance (May 20) with Triple-A Nashville. He worked five scoreless innings for Nashville on May 15.
