Mark Buehrle was tagged for six runs over three innings in Friday's loss to the Yankees.

It was his shortest start of the season. Buehrle allowed nine hits (including a pair of home runs) and one walk before being pulled. He has allowed 11 runs in nine innings over his past two starts, increasing his ERA from 2.64 to 3.19 in the process. He'll attempt to rebound against the Red Sox next week in Boston.

David Robertson tossed a scoreless ninth inning Friday against the Blue Jays for his 26th save of the season.

Robertson struck out two batters in the inning and worked around a one-out single to lock down the victory. The 29-year-old hasn't blown a save since June 1 and owns a fantastic 2.33 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 67/11 K/BB ratio over 38 2/3 innings this season.

Chase Headley went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored Friday against the Blue Jays.

Brian Cashman is a genius. OK, maybe it's a little early for that, but Headley is 6-for-18 (.333) with two doubles and two RBI over his first four games with the Yankees. His arrow is definitely on the rise in fantasy leagues with his new surroundings.

Jose Bautista went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Friday's loss to the Yankees.

Bautista was the extent of the Jays' offense on this night, slugging a three-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the third. It was his second multi-homer game of the season. He's now up to 20 home runs for the year, which ties him for ninth in the American League.

Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports that the Cardinals have reached an agreement with free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski.

The veteran backstop is already in Chicago and will join the team before Saturday's game. His arrival likely signals the end of George Kottaras' brief time with the Cardinals. Pierzynzki should see the bulk of the playing time behind the plate, and is certainly worth a look in deep two-catcher mixed leagues.

According to Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, the Cardinals are in the process of signing free agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski.

Pierzynski was cut loose by the Red Sox on July 16 after the 37-year-old backstop struggled to the tune of .254/.286/.348 with four homers through his first 72 games. With Yadier Molina on the shelf, he represents a definite upgrade for the Cardinals over George Kottaras and Tony Cruz.

Justin Masterson struggled during his second rehab start with Triple-A Columbus on Friday, allowing five runs on four hits over his 6 2/3 innings.

The veteran right-hander struggled mightily with his command, issuing six walks and throwing just 62 of his 108 pitches for strikes. This outing certainly won't help his trade value, and it's likely he'll need at least one more tune-up before rejoining the Indians rotation.

Carlos Quentin was removed from Friday's game against the Braves with an apparent injury.

It's unclear what exactly happened, but Quentin looked frustrated after striking out in his final at bat, and Will Venable entered the game defensively as a replacement for him. It's likely that he aggravated his recent left shoulder injury.
