NJ Advance Media's Eliot Shorr-Parks reports Eagles DE Fletcher Cox's imminent contract extension could include over $50 million in guaranteed money.

One of Shorr-Parks' sources said "the smart bet is to take the over" on $50 million. Cox has been a dominant 3-4 defensive end the last two seasons, and the Eagles are obviously confident he can continue to excel as an end-tackle hybrid in new DC Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme. Recently re-signed DE Vinny Curry and Cox have the potential to be a dominant force for the next several seasons.

FOX Sports' Mike Garafolo reports LeSean McCoy is expected to be served with a self-surrender arrest warrant by the middle of the week.

ESPN's Mark Schwarz reports a warrant is "imminent" with McCoy expected to be served in the next 48 hours. McCoy and three other men including ex-Chargers RB Curtis Brinkley are alleged to have assaulted at least two off-duty police officers over a bottle of champagne. Under the new personal conduct policy, players can be placed on the commissioner exempt list if formally charged with a violent crime. If placed on the exempt list, McCoy would remain on paid leave until the criminal proceedings are completed.

Greg Jennings said that Ryan Tannehill badly wants "more freedom" under new coach Adam Gase and his staff.

"I’m going to speak for Ryan right now, which I typically don’t do," Jennings said. "He wants some more freedom. He’s been hand-held his entire career." It's unclear if Tannehill will get it from Gase and new OC Clyde Christensen, as Jay Cutler reportedly only had "limited audible latitude" under Gase in Chicago this past season. Still, Gase figures to be great for Tannehill after the young quarterback was held under wraps by Joe Philbin and Bill Lazor.

Bengals signed CB Chykie Brown to a reserve/future contract.

Brown, the 2011 fifth-rounder of the Ravens, appeared in 46 games for the Ravens from 2011-2014 before he was waived midway through 2014 and claimed off waivers by the Giants. He didn't make it out of final cuts last summer and spent the season on the street. Brown will compete for a depth job.

Saints waived WR Seantavius Jones.

Jones was only due $600,000, so the Saints clearly didn't see much potential in him. Jones has spent the last two offseasons being talked up by Saints beat writers along with Brandon Coleman. Coleman flopped in his 2015 increased opportunity, while 23-year-old Jones (five snaps) barely saw the field.

Saints released LB Ramon Humber.

The move saves just under $1 million versus the cap. A backup linebacker and special teamer, Humber's salary was scheduled to be $901,000 in the final year of his contract. The 28-year-old is more worthy of minimum-salary work.

Saints released LB David Hawthorne.

It frees up $2.25 million in cap room. 30-year-old Hawthorne was supposed to help New Orleans' run defense when GM Mickey Loomis signed him away from Seattle in 2012, but Hawthorne proved a mediocre run defender and was always a huge liability in coverage. He was severely overpaid the past several seasons.
Feb 8 - 5:02 PM

Saints released RG Jahri Evans.

The move saves $3.2 million in cap room. Evans, 32, had spent his entire career with the Saints, earning six Pro Bowl trips and four first-team All-Pro berths across ten seasons. Evans' body has begun to break down in recent years, however, most notably battling wrist and knee injuries. The Buffalo News' Vic Carucci reported last March that the Bills had interest in trading for Evans, so perhaps we'll see him resurface in Buffalo. Evans is coming off an okay-not-great season in New Orleans. He should have one or two years left as a capable NFL starter.
