Clay Buchholz moved to 7-0 on Wednesday after holding the White Sox to one run over seven innings.

The Red Sox won the game 6-2. Buchholz was brilliant yet again, yielding only five hits while fanning four batters. He has a 1.73 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 73/27 K/BB ratio in 72 2/3 total innings this season and should be able to keep the dominance going next week in an interleague matchup against the struggling Phillies.

Paul Konerko went 2-for-4 with a home run but the White Sox fell to the Red Sox on Wednesday.

The home run -- a solo shot off Andrew Bailey in the bottom of the ninth inning -- was Konerko's first since April 28. He is batting just .224/.289/.353 in 41 games this season and may finally be succumbing to old age.

Hector Santiago took the loss Wednesday despite allowing just two runs in six innings against the Red Sox.

Santiago did his part, yielding only three hits while striking out nine, but the Chicago offense didn't provide him with very much support. The 25-year-old left-hander could be bumped from the White Sox rotation when John Danks is activated from the disabled list and will hold no further fantasy value if that happens.
May 22 - 11:30 PM

J.D. Martinez went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Astros' 3-1 victory over the Royals on Wednesday.

Martinez now has two straight two-hit games, and he provided the game-winning homer off James Shields on Wednesday. The home run was his fourth and he now has 14 RBI in 28 games this year. The Astros don't have any reason not to bat him in the middle of the lineup if he continues to produce, but that's not worth much in a barren Houston offense.

Jose Veras picked up his eighth save of the season as the Astros beat the Royals on Wednesday.

After a rough start to the year, Veras has settled into Houston's ninth-inning role nicely, converting his last six save opportunities and turning in seven consecutive scoreless outings. He now has a 3.32 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through 19 innings.

James Shields allowed just two runs in seven innings but took the loss against the Astros on Wednesday.

Shields committed one mistake, a two-run homer by J.D. Martinez, but the Astros pitchers made it stand up to saddle Shields with his fifth loss. He was otherwise stellar, allowing seven hits while striking out seven on the night. Despite the 2-5 record, Shields has been as good as advertised for the Royals this season, now owning a 2.47 ERA with a 0.96 WHIP. He will get the Cardinals next.
May 22 - 11:10 PM

Jordan Lyles went six innings, allowing just one run, as the Astros beat the Royals on Wednesday.

Lyles has made five starts in May, with Wednesday's being his best of the bunch. He struck out just three but limited the Royals to six hits in his six innings. Aside from one bad start in which he allowed eight runs in four innings, Lyles has been serviceable for the Astros thus far. His next start will be Tuesday against the Rockies.

Chris Davis went 4-for-4 with his 14th home run Wednesday, and the Orioles beat the Yankees 6-3.

Davis continues to tear the cover off the baseball, now hitting .329/.420/.690 through 45 games this season. He is tied with Justin Upton for the league lead in home runs, and he trails only Miguel Cabrera in RBI. Davis is showing that his breakout 2012 was legit.
