Brett Gardner went 2-for-6 with a homer and three RBI, powering the Yankees to an 8-5 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday.

Gardner also scored a pair of runs and swiped two bases in the impressive evening. His three-run shot off Craig Breslow in the sixth inning put the Bombers ahead 8-0 at the time and proved to be the difference in the ballgame. Gardner has been very impressive in the early going, slashing .320/.400/.453 with two homers, 13 RBI and eight swipes.

Jacoby Ellsbury went 4-for-4 and drew a pair of walks, reaching base safely in all six of his plate appearances as the Yankees topped the Red Sox on Sunday night.

All four of Ellsbury's hits on the evening were singles, and he also scored a pair of runs in the contest. He's off to a terrific start at the plate in 2015, slashing .351/.432/.402 with a homer, three RBI and nine stolen bases.

Andrew Miller worked a scoreless ninth inning against the Red Sox on Sunday, protecting a three-run advantage and picking up his 10th save of the season.

It wasn't as easy as most of the hard-throwing southpaw's save chances have been this year, as a pair of walks put the tying run at the plate in the form of David Ortiz, but Miller was able to escape unscathed. He still has yet to allow a run in 13 1/3 innings on the season and sports a dazzling 23/6 K/BB ratio.

Adam Warren picked up his second victory of the season on Sunday despite allowing four runs on four hits over his 5 2/3 innings of work.

Warren fanned two and walked two on the evening. After being staked to an early lead, Warren cruised through four innings unscathed before running into a buzzsaw in the sixth. Two of the four runs charged to him scored on a Mike Napoli home run after he left the game. Warren will bring a 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 14/10 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Orioles on Friday.

Mike Napoli launched a three-run homer in a losing effort against the Yankees on Sunday night.

His towering drive off Esmil Rogers capped a three-run Red Sox uprising in the sixth inning, pulling them to within three at 8-5, though that would be as close as the score would get. Napoli finished the night 1-for-3 and also drew a walk. He has been in quite the funk offensively through the first month-plus of hte season, hitting .167/.278/.295 with two homers and seven RBI.

Joe Kelly was hit hard in a losing effort against the Yankees on Sunday, surrendering five runs on nine hits over 4 2/3 frames.

Kelly struck out three and didn't issue a walk in the ballgame. The Yankees got to him early, with Mark Teixeira blasting a two-run homer in the first inning. They would tack on another three runs in the third to jump out to a commanding lead. Kelly has struggled during his time in the Red Sox rotation, compiling a 5.72 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 31/8 K/BB ratio over 28 1/3 innings. He'll look to right the ship when he does battle against the Blue Jays in Toronto on Saturday.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the Brewers are not expected to hire Ron Gardenhire as their next manager.

With Ron Roenicke getting the axe late on Sunday, there have been rumblings that Gardenhire could be his successor, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Craig Counsell seems like an option that is gaining steam and could be the mystery man announced on Monday.

Dodgers designated RHP Scott Baker for assignment.

The Dodgers are expected to recall an extra bullpen arm to fulfill his spot on the active roster. Baker posted a 5.73 ERA over 11 innings with the Dodgers. There's a decent chance that he'll attract interest from elsewhere.
